Doesn't the "Sirius radio preinstalled & activated." statement eliminate all 2002 - 2003's and some 2004's? Once again Redhead Stepchildren can not play in the reindeer games!

While we would like to have a 7-series with both options installed, the Sirius prequalification is purely for XM intregration testing only and has no affect on iPod compatibility.

I am in - I have an 03 with a build date of 04/03. I have working CD changer (that I am willing to give up for ipod access), but I do not have satellite pre-wire - too early.

By the way I am about 15 miles from Santa Ana.

Let me know

Saturday is preferred, please PM or email to make the necessary arrangements.

For another 7 with Sirius, the offer is still on the table.

I hope it works. I yearned for ipod integration so badly with my 2002. It seemed companies like this just said "coming soon" for 4 F'n years. It's obviously not easy, hope you guys really have made some headway for all the other owners out there with early models.

We were able to secure 2 volunteers, we'll be sure to report first thing next week after testing is complete.

Well, it's been two days now. Did you post a report in a separate thread and I missed it? Although I am not part of the target market for this, I was once and am hoping you can help out the older car owners.

Testing went very well in our volunteer's MY04 740iL with Sirius prewiring and CD Changer. After installing the kit (took about 15 minutes) we plugged in the iPod and was immediately up and running.

Things to note:

- The CD Changer was disabled as connections were needed for the iPod kit
- Tracks were controlled via steering wheel & iDrive controller
- iPod does charge while connected
- This vehicle is equipped with an older iDrive system (MASK), text display was not experienced during testing. Whether this is a roadblock or not is still being determined. Vehicles with newer iDrive (CCC) will have full text display.
- There was no Artist listing limitations (as opposed to 255 in the BMW kit)
- There was no limit to songs within a Playlist (as opposed to 1000 song limit on the BMW kit)

There is also an integrated AUX port for other devices that can be enabled using the CD6 option. You also have the option of using iPod UI mode. This enables use of the Clickwheel and simple commands like previous/next track, fast forward and rewind.

Long term testing in an actual working environment (as bench testing is complete) is taking place, we will be scheduling the car back within the next couple of weeks to follow up and look through logs.

Bonus: We also tried the MP3 flash intended for the e60, this immediately disabled the changer. It's something we're looking a bit further into.

Testing is scheduled for a 2004 530 next, results to follow.

I haven't heard about disabling the WB, do you have a line we can reference from?
