I don't want to rain on Russ's parade...but at $2600 Kelleners software is a bit outrageous...

It's kind of a dubious benefit as well. Not too many opportunities to exceed 155 mph here in the states, and given my experiences in the 60-130 measured event I participated in, you need lots of road to get there.

Of course if you've got lots of wide open road with no law enforcement, then go for it. Just make sure your tires are in perfect shape each time.

Hopefully they have a way to reduce the top speed limit for guys like you.

A BMW test driver I know said the top speed of the Z4M is about 167, so why bother.

I agree. There isn't much left to the top end it would take a lot more power and a different set of gears. The reason I had my DME cracked was for the advantages of more power, the use of a CSL Alpha-n intake, CSL cams, and to modify the program to NOT throw CEL lights with my headers and race cats. If it were just to delimit, I would have not spent the money.

I think you could hit 175 possibly 180 with enough road delimited the way the car is right now.

Mine tops around 240-250km/hr which would probably be 155mph (limit most North American Bimmers have) I would like no limiter. Bottomline is not why I want it but that I do want no limiter.

If that's the bottom line, then the answer to your original question is yes, it's possible. Most things are if you're willing to pay for them.

i reached an indicated 270+km/h (approx 172mph) in 5th speed @ 8000rpm.. i don't think my car is limited

i even read in the owner's manual that the top speed is 275km/h for some of our cars (need to check that again)

No guys. You are looking at the speedometer error inherent in our cars. It indicates higher than actual speed.

I agree the speedo is not 100% accurate. However is it really worth spending a single penny to go faster?

And we validated 163MPH

Yeah, your limiter is set to 270 kph = 168 mph, like mine.

Limiter kicks on in 6th.

See...I don't get this argument at all. I think some speedos are set to the euro spec 270 kph limiter accidentally at the factory, since most kick on at 155 mph indicated. The limiter should be set to the indicated speed, cuz the ECU should be seeing the same speed as speedo.

Been a while since we've had a good "a BMW should not have speedometer error" argument. This should be fun.

Do you have a document that says that Euro is 270 kph?

The speedos are just off, guys. People that check with their GPS' always find their actual speed is lower than indicated.

-Should be soon. I was told (inside source) that their CAI, software and exhaust would be ready in early 2008.

I don't think the Euro has a limiter at all. I just don't think they have the gearing/power to go faster.

My car definitely stops around 250km.
