Not sure where you would look for a soft copy. There is an electronic copy of the manual online. You should be able to find it searching on this forum.

Try this one, maybe it will help you out. It is the Bentley 5 series E34 Service Manual 1989-1995. It is about a six to ten minuet download if you have broadband. This File requires Adobe Acrobat Reader.

I am not sure of the year of your car but there are many places you can buy one from.
here is a link to what I pulled up from "Google" http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...+Owners+Manual The below is great but will only ship to USA. Once again, I am not sure what year your car is. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-e...QQcmdZViewItem

I bought a 1989 525i BMW
I just bought a 1989 525i BMW and it passsed smog no problem. When I test drove it I didnt see any problems and it drove fine. Its a 5speed and ater about a week it overheated pretty fast when I left my house one day. I went 10 miles and had to pull over three times each way to cool it down enough to drive it home. I repaced the thermastat and flushed out the radiator and put a new sensor in the housing to the thermnastat and it runs good but the idle is going up and down when I start it and it was reading the temp guage but it is not now and it idles funny plus the stop leak the guy I bought it from put into it was the reason that it overheated due to it clogging the thermastat. And I dont see the thernastat guage working now Im confused . Also I flushed the radiator twice and the stop leak the guy put into it is thick and coming up in the radiator still. Any advise?

Don't bother with radiator flush fluids at this time either. You just need to ....hey you have an 89 car. That's an M20 engine. SO do this. Remove the thermostat and replace the housing without it. Its easy as pie on your car. Then flush the radiator. Leave the hose in the expansion tank and undo the top radiator hose at the radiator fitting (do not undo any other hoses. Start the car and come back ever 15 minutes to check on the sedimentation that's coming out. Your engine will remain cold throughout due to the garden hose so you don't need to monitor constantly. You may need to do this for an hour....sounds like the silicates are stubborn things. Are you sure that your water pump is working fine ? Or anything else related to the cooling system ? It may not be the silicates...after all, you bought it because you had an overheating problem to begin with. Bleed the radiator properly after you've replaced the thermostat following the flush. Please follow the Bentley manual's instructions on bleeding. It is not difficult at all, and don't worry about bubbles being in the system, there will always be some air in the system its fine. |

How did you find a thread that is close to 5 years old regarding a user manual and post an issue about overheating?

Stress, especially that caused by a solution implemented that leads to even more problems instead.
