E39 (1997 - 2003)
The BMW 5-Series (E39 chassis) was introduced in the United States as a 1997 model year car and lasted until the 2004 when the E60 chassis was released. The United States saw several variations including the 525i, 528i, 530i and 540i. -- View the E39 Wiki

That will not be easy to acces the end of the Vent Pipe that connects to the CCV. Accessing that end when the CCV is still attached to the engine is difficult (at least on the M54 it was). You will have to remove all the various parts (airbox, throttle body, electrical box, etc.) to get access. If you do that, you may as well replace the CCV itself.

Saw this post when the thread was resurrected.

I managed to re-attach the vent pipe to the CCV by removing just the air box and one electrical connector. So it is possible, but not easy. ANd I don't know I would be able to remove the vent pipe from the CCV this way.

Did this yesterday, hoses were pretty much fully blocked at CCV. Can't wait to feel difference and not have to keep refilling oil. Can't believe nobody mentions how hard it is to connect the short hose coming off te top of the CCV with the 2 90 degree bends. That was a bitch
