I wish Shimano would build transmissions and let the engineers complicate the crap out of it. vatkens could you possibly give sunny_j a renewed Vehicle Order for his vehicle with the addition of being able to watch pirated DVD's at the front Control Display. I know he doesn't have the hybrid Video Module but he may have the "drive" version where the image would disappear when vehicle is in motion. Please.

I have a 07 750i. Since November of 07 I have had three episodes of the rear end of my cart sound as though some one had run into the rear end of my car. Subsequently about 30% of the time I get a slap when the gear changes. The BMW response has been, the factory is aware of the problem and is working on it,or it's the software...it was a bad batch of software and it's on the way. This has been going since early last summer. Southbay BMW has been giving me the run around o this matter. I've talked to BMW USA and my contact their has tried to get action but is told to refer me back to the dealer....Until BMW resolves this problem I woul advise staying away from a 750i This is agreat car but I'm totaly disgusted with the double talk by BMW..The "software per BMW should have been here the end of December 07..anybody got any thoughts ? Latest report on tranny issues

Roshanzamir -- what's the update on the arbitration?

Took my car into the dealer (Prestige BMW in Ramsey, NJ -- not where I bought my 2006 CPO 750Li). I liked their attitude and behavior but not the result (so far): They first reported that they couldn't duplicate either complaint (hard 2-1 downshift and slip-then-slam). I said fine, I'll be there at 8 am the next day to drive the foreman around until he feels it. Showed up at 8, was told the foreman had taken the car out again and had felt both complaints. Was told the foreman had sent a "Puma case" (?) message to other BMW service techs in the country and had heard from BMW NA that it is aware of this issue for the VIN range that includes my car and that BMW NA engineers are working on a "software update". Was told that the problem was definitely a software/computer issue and not a hardware problem. Was told to check back in a month or so to see if the software update had been issued. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt on this (although I feel strongly it is BS) and will follow up in a month. If no solution, then I will start in on insisting for installation of a new transmission.

Has anyone received a software update for this problem and had it work?

Joe

let me tell you this Joe , they will have to go through upgrades first before they decide to change your tranny however the software upgrade helped some vehicles issues as a "temporary fix" and then if you still have the issues then they will chnage it depending on dealer and since the last software is going to be available in May due to me SA .so ye you gotta wait and see what will happend , i know it sux but a Man gotta do what he gotta do Goodluck

Me too. Happened on an new 08 I leased. VISTA BMW was gracious enough to take the car back after 3 days, redo the paperwork and give me another. NO BS

I drive a 2006 750 Li and have continuing issues with the transmission. It is as if you are being rear-ended. It happens more when the car is stopped on a slight grade. When you start to accelerate the car, you are slammed by the faulty transmission. I wonder when the transmission will fall in the street.

I have met several other 750 owners who have the same problem. The Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco has a 750 and told me about the same issues. With all the hills in that city, a 750 would be the last car you would want to drive. The are changing to a Benz.

I, too, are being stonewalled by the dealer, South Bay BMW.

As stated by others, BMW knows the problem but refuses to be honest with their customers.
My son has an Alpina B5. He thinks that the B7 would be a better car for me since it has a different transmission. Who knows.

Has anyone had a successful solution to this problem. It seems to me if the 07 and 08s are still having these issues it's not going to help anyone by taking their car in just to have the problems return later on.

BMW's come w/ 4yr/50k bumper to bumper warranties. I recently purchased my 06 750 Li w/26k miles. That w/ give me 24k left or till 2011-whichever comes first. Since my car was CPO'd it extended the cars warranty 2 addt'l yrs or 100k. Extended maintenance is not included but can be purchased.

FYI...I've got a 2005 X5 4.4 and this has happened to me twice in the past month. Both times it happened when going up a hill and decelerating and coming to a rolling stop. When I give it gas, boom, it feels like i got rear ended.

it'll be months before they replace the tranny. i actually got some "special" software update from PUMA which has temporarily fixed the clunk but it won't last long. others have had theirs replaced had success with remanufactured ones but that is usually a long exhausting process involving several visits to the dealer. if they don't offer to replace it the 1st time (whicc few lucky owners did get), just get rid of the car. if its got the clunk, the car is junk.
