^^^just give it some time. the problem gradually gets worse and worse until you get a clunk, slip or slam every time you go for a drive. surprisingly, my software update is holding up real good. at times, i purposely come to a screeching stop and still no 2nd-->1st clunk.

From what I have read, put it in sport mode and look for a small incline. Any other ways to get this problem to show up?
Thats right, put it in sports mode to reproduce it and also go upto 65-70mph and the suddenly take ur foot off the gas pedal....mine slams everyime I do it

They ended up fixing mine with a software update. It hasnt had any problems since then.

Tansmission slamming into gear

Yes - I have a 2007 750i. When in sport mode and come to a stop and then excelarate slams just like someone rear ended me. Looks like others have experienced same senario. BMW just called today to say they can't find anything wrong. I am going to do as someone else suggested - take the tech for a ride and not let him out until it happens again.

The slam is just a reminder that you are in a sport mode.

First BMW has to send it to wherever you are. In my case that is taking longer than a week. Once in the shop though it's two days.

I'm in the same boat. I just got a 2003 745li (70kmi), noticed it was bumping from 1st to 2nd. Luckily the car is still under warranty until November. Took it to Pacific BMW in Glendale and they said I need a new transmission. Waiting for them to receive the transmission, should be in tomorrow. They said it would be 2-3 days to repair.

Transmission slip/slam on 2006 750Li

I've experienced the same problems of slip/slam (46k miles). Will be taking it in very soon. So what's the "current" fix?

Dropped mine off directly in the hands of the foreman at Long Beach BMW. He drove with me in the car and said he would reach out to BMW. He called me at the end of today and said he was waiting for instructions from BMW on how to proceed (i.e. software update, new tranny, valve body/clutch replacement, etc.)

They gave me a rental with 250 miles/day so I'm not complaining.

Sounds like you're making headway. I took mine in, showed them the SIB (the tranny slam has happened twice in the 1000 miles since I bought the car), they said they'd look into it and open a puma. I think that's only because I mentioned it to them.

Dealer also said they'd wait for BMW to respond with new software. Otherwise, I'm stuck with the problem. This is BMW Sterling in NoVA.

might be the guibo

A friend of mine works for Ferman Bmw and he said its the guibo that causes it most of the time. That if you replace that then it should solve the issue, although I didnt ask him how much it cost to do so.

At dealer it costs like $700.00.

Been dealing with the same slamming problem with my 02 745Li for 2 years. BMW dealer states I need a new tranny. Total parts and labor $9000.00
Ouch !! Seems as though this continues to be a problem. Kinda sours the thought of updating to a newer 7 than my 02. Dealer states the 02 and the 03 are the worlds worst when it comes to this slamming. He tells me since 04 BMW had this problem solved. Affter reading this...I'm not so sure.

Any thoughts out there. Will the tranny hold out even though we get this slamming or is this issue have the potential of stranding me.
The dealer says the only fix is to replace the tranny and a $300 computer that causes me an airbag error

In all honesty, this is what caused my spouse to have it towed Monday. Upon deacceleration, she gets this slamming as it does on occasion and then the car shuts off with the airbag message popping up. Wouldn't start for her no matter what she did. Once off the tow truck about 7 miles away, the BMW service manager tells me he statred it and drove it off...What the heck !! Half a day later he tells me I need a $9000.00 tranny job !!
Is this possible ? I sure can use another opinion. This thread has raised my suspicions.

Could you please tell us, what all they have done so far to resolve this issue?

Transmission replacement is the last option dealer usually recommends.
