Being a dad/parent is awesome... as long as you're ready (mentally, financially, emotionally). It's the joy of life man. Words really can't describe the whole experience.

Were you asking about the cigars in plastic or the cards? If the smokes... It's perfectly normal and ideal to keep em wrapped up until ready to smoke. Moisture still makes it through and it keeps the roll tight.

Regular cigar smoker here. La Gloria Cubana Serie R #4 natural. Great smoke when you don't have an hour or more to enjoy a #6 or #7. Get a box a month from Thompson and smoke 'em in the house like a real man should! Thank god for hardwood floors!

^^^ Smoke in the house? Nah... that isht is too powerful for that. I enjoy them but not that much.

I generally will recommend fully enclosed humidor, because it's less of a chance there will be a bad seal to lose humidity out of. As for damage due to light...well it can happen the sunlight bakes the inside of the humidor and everything bleaches and dries out. That's my personal experience with my own $300+ Zino/Davidoff humidor. Remember it's really the cedar holding moisture that keeps your cigars fresh, the unit in the box only is intended to replace humidity lost due to opening/closing the box. Major importance is that your humidor has approx 1/4" white Spanish cedar internal lining.

Keeping the cigars in the cello makes very little difference. I've never found truth to the thought that cigar flavors "mingle" if in unwrapped physical contact. We keep all our cigars at the store in their cello, makes no difference in terms or humidification, but it can prevent mold growth and plume.

I'm on a big Rocky Patel kick. The Edge is such a great smoke deal. I usually go for a walk with the boss twice a week around our office in Santa Monica at lunch and burn one down, plus a couple over the weekend.
I could/have spend a lot of $$ on smokes, but I always come back to the Edge. I think I'm gonna split a treasure chest with a couple of people.

When i was younger we use to steal them out of my best friend's dads office.
Never knew a goddamn thing about them, other than they where EXTREMELY tasty.
Now that i can legally smoke haha, i have been wanting to get into the loop but i have no idea where to start.
Any one wanna be my mentor? possibly share some of them tasty cigars? Since you got sooooo goddamn many in that box *cough* TXSTYLE *cough*....

anyway, Ill never forget the time his dad got home and started flipping the **** out when we apparently snatched some of his "the cigars your older sister brought me back from cuba!" cigars (my buddies older sister was born in mexico, so she could travel in and out of cuba with no problems)

Never seen a grown man rage that hard over a cigar before......

Well since there are literally more brands than I can name, my general rule of thumb is to stay around the $4+ a stick brands. Now I prefer the "mild-medium" puros and they can usually be identified by their honey colored or Connecticut style wrapper. The darker/chocolate wrappers are more robust or "full bodied".
