Second row of 2008 x5 - can you fit two carseats and an adult?

our leases is almost up on our x5. we love the car and are considering a new one. but we are also expecting our second child. not sure if we could fit an adult in the back between the two car seats. any thoughts?

I don't think the second row size has changed much on the new model. It may have gotten a little bigger.. So, I guess you could put an adult in the middle, but I wouldn't do it for long trips...

Turning in the wifes 2005 X5 on Saturday for a 2008 X5 that just came in. We have no trouble with 3 adults now in the back and as Jalli said, I do think its a tad bit bigger in the 2008. I know my 95 lb Rot/lab and an adult fit just fine. LOL

If space is a concern. How about putting one of the car seats in the third row?

Do the third row seats split? or is it a bench? Any problems with putting a car seat in third row?

Assumption is that you will get a 3rd row. Great for kids. My future plan is to be able to take two other adults in the 2nd row and have my kid sit in the 3rd row Plenty of space for everyone.

It would also depend on the car seats you use. Some has bigger bottoms than others. Best way is to take couple cars eats and try it out.

I have two car seats / booster in the 2nd rown in my X5. Too answer you question yes you can fit a person in the middle, it wouldn't be the roomest seat but yes an average size person would fit. I wouldn't like to do it for a long ride but you do have room.

We're having twins in 3 months and I am interested in an answer to this as well... it certainly LOOKS like it will fit an adult in the middle but of course I have no idea how large car seats are...

Congradulations rh71! Twins. That what my wife and I wanted. But we're only expecting our 1st. Just as good That's why I'm shopping for a new X5 now.

I really hope that I'll be able to put a car seat in the 3rd row though!

My wife and I were also hoping to use the 3rd row for child seats, but from what I now understand, you can't do it.

The 3rd row seats do not have attachment points on the back, nor do they accomodate the LATCH system. The owner's manual also says not to put child seats in the 3rd row.

While I'll take chances with alot of things, this is not one of them; so our child will be in the 2nd row. As a matter of fact, I eliminated the 3rd row from my E70 order.

Thanxs for the valueable information! Yeah that's definitely not something I'll be willing to take a chance on either.

Does anyone know if the center seat in the 2nd row properly accomodate a child seat?

Yes it does. the 2nd row will accomdate a child seat, But 3rd row is a PITA to get in and out if you have a child seat in the middle of the 2nd row.

Thanxs wb488641. What I meant to ask was: Can a child seat be used in the center seat of the 2nd row WITH the LATCH system?

For example (while facing the seat): Can I place the child seat in the middle, then attach the left strap of the child seat to the right latch of the left passenger seat AND attach the right strap of the child seat to the left latch of the right passenger seat?

Yes. I have 3 kids across the back. The 2 outboard seats are the Safe Go Boosters - very nice and slim by the way. The little legs kick the back of the front seats less.

In the middle is an infant base - chicco.

The middle latch points are wider than the outboard latch loops. THis allows anything in the center to also connect to the 2 middle latch loops. Seems to fit very well and secure so far.

Also, if you're looking for very narrow based car seats (for a better fit with multiple car seats) you might look into the Sunshine Kids Radian series. They are very highly rated and not as wide as the Britax.

I recently took a ride with five people in an X5. Two adults in the front seats, a small adult in the second row and a child in a forward-facing Britax. And looking at the space remainiing in the center of the second row, I opted to ride in the third row. At 5'5", I was perfectly okay back there, especially because I could coopt space from the other seat next to me. And yes, they are split seats in the third row (and the second row).
