Right after I placed my order, I did a general search for BMW forums. This was the first one to come up.

Right when I started lurking at RoadFly the first exodus took place, I tagged along.

Ditto except I had been posting at RF for awhile and one day realized all the regulars were now over on some new board called Bimmerfest...

Careful TD, you don't want them deleting that post too.

I'll have to ditto the ditto. I first lurked quite a bit, just like I did over at the org, tested the water, and like it. Great camaraderie and helpful info...

In my lurking of the bimmer.org E46 board before I bought my car, I noticed many of the regulars were gone. Then one day, someone made the comment, "what are you guys doing here, is bimmerfest down?"...

I was just being a dork researching about a car I may buy 2 years later and roadfly came as a result of a search for info on the 330Ci. After lurking there for a few days, I saw mention of bimmerfest and the rest is history.

I think it was that thread. I was waiting for my wagon to come in and lurking on RF. I somehow found my way here in the first day or two it was open.

Just for fun...in retrospect, I liked this post from that thread:

I think that I have a great idea:

Why don't we add a "Group Buys" forum, and appoint TD
as the moderator?

Someone e-mailed me (TD?) a couple of days after the exodus. I think I didn't notice it or something.

Mein Auto: BMW 520iA... for now
I joined back in '01 with the very first gang migrating here. But I was still hanging over at RF. Once most of the "old crowd" left, I started to browse BF much more. And then RF kicked out JIO.... that was my last straw.

I think a Group buy forum would be great to have: one of the best ways to get a great deal on parts.

I think group buy forum would be awesome. Whoever you appoint as the mod Jon, should be very aware of actual prices online though...I've seen a few times where someone organized a group buy and the group buy price was significantly higher than what I can dig up with a few mouse clicks.

Also, I hope the vendors here won't mind that a group buy is organized with another, competing vendor...And at least if any group buy will be organized supporting vendors here should be given the first shot at it.

Can't you tell I've been giving this a lot of thought?

But yeah, AYN and TD's subsequent post at 'fly was what got me here. And I'm all for TD making a moderator, that way he can at least see some of the crap we post about him in the admins only board.

I can't remember exactly. I think it may have been E46fanatics or roadfly. It was such a long time ago. All I can say is that this is the best site. It is definitely a BMW community.

While researching BMW and the buying experience in general on Edmunds.com, I found a reference to bimmerfest on their Car Discussions section.

This is the only site, however, that has me coming back on a regular basis.
