New member - saying hello

Just wanted to say hello, introduce myself and say thank you to everyone here for all the great information. Tomorrow I will be picking up my first BMW (trading a 2006 Murano and it is a 2008 X3 - Crimson Red, Sand Beige Leather, Premium Package, Sport Activity Package, Cold Weather Package and Sirius.

I wasn't thinking red at all, but this is one of the first red I had seen with the SAP (and the first my dealer ordered) and I fell in love at first sight. Wish me luck and thanks again.

Red,
Welcome aboard!!
I've had bimmers since 1972(tii) and in spite of their quirks and foibles, I've loved every one. You'll grow to appreciate that you now own a "Driving Machine" that has a distinct personality rather than an ordinary "car" with no soul. In time, you'll feel this machine to become part of you. I've had some laugh at this philosophy and most times just responded with a smile, thinking to myself, you poor fool, you'll never experience the joy of being a real driver.
Best of luck!
bobkap

Welcome, and post pics of your new X3. I haven't seen a red SAP and am curious as to how it looks.

Thanks everyone. I have had it two hours now and am in LOVE!!! I can honestly say I have never driven anything like it. I am having some issues with the bluetooth but that is my error, not the car. One question, can you set it to "chirp" or something when the doors are locked via the remote key? My parking lights flash, but I really need some sound. And, if so, how??

I'll post pics as soon as I can and do have one from the showroom I will post now. I am in Memphis and we are supposed to get our first snow in 3 years tomorrow, so she is staying in the garage because, well, we can't drive here in it. So, better pics when it's clean after that!

Thanks again.

Welcome to the 'fest and congrats on the new X3!

You cannot set the vehicle to acoustically acknowledge lock/unlock unless you install the alarm.

Sehr schön.

But then we are partial to Karmesinrot.

Red X3s are rare. Yours is the first one I've seen with the Sport Activity Package.

Besides ours I've only seen one other Crimson Red X3 on the road.

Thanks everyone. I was told mine was one of the first red ones my dealership had ordered this year and even in looking at inventories all over the country, I didn't see another with that package. My favorite part is the silver running boards against the red but have to get used to stepping out and over them before I ruin too many pairs of pants from dragging my leg across it.

Here are a few more pics I took this morning before it got covered in snow.

Hmmm, my '06 X3 chirps when I lock the doors...does that mean it has the alarm installed? How do I verify that?

Press and hold the trunk open button for 3+ seconds. If it goes in a fit (panic mode), it should have the alarm installed

Oh, I agree on the dealer sticker, but I had it only a few hours at that point and, well, I enjoyed being inside it more The weather tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and almost 60, so I see a detailing afternoon ahead of me

Have only seen two red X3s in about 18 months of actually looking for them. Sadly both were on the side of the freeway being "ministered to" by the CHP. Could have been the same one at different times/locations I guess. It is a rare color and it DOES attract attention. Enjoy your ride!

Wish we'd ordered Privacy Glass. Subtle, but it makes the car look better.
