Wiper Issues
I have checked fuses, they all check good.
Im lost on what else to check. The problem: There are 3 speed settings. 2nd one doesn't work correctly. From what I know of its supposed to be a continuous wipe as you are driving, but when you stop it switches to a fast intermittent wipe. Mine is stuck on intermittent wipe. Anyone have an idea on what i should check or what the actual problem is?

Well, that certainly wouldn't be a fuse issue.
Let me see if i remember the E36 wiper switch. Pos 0 - Off Pos 1 - Intermittent, off at stops Pos 2 - Slow Continuous, intermittent @ stops Pos 3 - Fast continuous, slow continuous @ stops If that's correct, and its stuck permanently on intermittent in Pos 2, then it would be a wiper control module problem most likely. Ask your dealer. Ask for a service adviser, they'll know for sure.

BMWredneck,
If your a DIY guy, my first guess would be some dirt on the Pos 2 connection that's preventing the wiper contol module from getting a connection to Pos 2. I'd try cleaning it with some electric terminal cleaner first. If it doesn't work, then my adive would be to follow Phantom's advice. Take care! Amr |

Where would the general vacinity of this connector be at?
And the wiper control module, is that a decntly DIY or should i just stick with a mechanic for it?

I've got another wiper question for you guys. My 92 (different control module) has a similar problem, but it will only work in fast pos 3, and will not return properly. Every once in a while it works. yesterday i was washing the car at a coin wash. I had the hood open and i was cleaning the engine a bit. low and behold the wipers worked for about 10min after, then returned to not working. Any ideas?
