Fender side light (hamburger)

My side lights light with signal lights.

I wanted to make it on with parking lights along with the signal lights which I did.
Looking at the WDS wiring it only shows it wired for being on with parking lights.

Are the Euro or Canada cars like that or just with the signal lights like the NA cars?

Side lights on with parking lights too

Had this set up on my Z3.

For the Z4 mainly for the lighted Z4 disc.

You basically tap into the parking light line with a normally closed relay contact to the side light.

The side light signal line picks the relay which makes the side light look like stock but 180 out with the signal light.

Following is a sketch from the Z3.

Z4 stuff:

Me too!
Supposedly picking up the painted discs today.
Going to try the engravers idea of using plastic letters inlayed with the front painted
semi black and the sides clear. This way the light will be around the letters.

We finished the valve cover machining yesterday.
Dropped it off at the engraver and next the powder coater.
Texture black powder matches the valve cover very close.
Black text on black subtle.

Valve cover spare $197.75r
Machine valve cover $50.00
Machine top piece and modify vise jaws $150.00
Bottom piece $60.00
Material etc. $35.00
Engraving $100+
Powder coating $40.00

Also dropped off the Z4 rear logo on the center piece between the seats above the door.
Will modify the font size to engrave it.

Thanks.
Must be Euro then or the WDS wiring is wrong.

///M pic

Tough to do good pics of this. Looks good in person though.
Z4 one is more of a wow. The ///M one looks good too.
Will probably end up with the Z4 one on the drivers side and the ///M one on the passenger side.
On the Z4 ones, I will be sand plasting the area behind the Z4 to hide the inside.
Paint the inlayed Z4 letters semi black. Then try with the plastic letters clear on the sides and black on the front.
Based on the plate being flat, you really don't need to narrow the light assembly.

Picked up some engraving

BMW M Power will be going to the powder place today for black texture.

Master cylinder cover cap.
Machined stock cap ledge to accommodate the thickness of the aluminum cap.

Z4 between the seats.

V1 came out well too. Will post pics when I get it together.

Wow really like that, Its going to look awesome finished,

any chance of being able to do it to my valve cover? Or was this a custom "not to be remade" one off?

If you want to pay for it and take the risk.
For the prototype, I'm into it for $390 not counting the cylinder head cover ($349r) to hold it and the spare cover ($197.75r) and time.
Also three venders involved. I doubt if the powder coat company drops it, that they will pay for it.

Ron - what is the plan for the Z4 between the seats? Leave as is or paint it? Looks great and understated as is IMO.

Also, brake fluid cap looks nice in chrome.

Z4 as is, black on black.

Brake fluid cap goes with the oil fill cap.

Picked up the powdered engraving

Match is very good. 15 second rush instead of the normal 10 second one.
Just laying there. Gap will minimize when installed.

Z4 side light inlay with black

Bead blasted the face of the light assembly. That and the silver tip lights equals no hot spots.
Silver tippped lights are more yellow than amber is the down side.

Next we will try the plexiglass letters inlayed with the front black and the light around the sides of the letters.
