Mein Auto: BMW 545i 2004
BMW 2004 545i transmission failure warning

my transmission at different times has gone into a safe mode into 3rd gear and i get a transmission failure warning. I pull over turn off the the car and restart and it goes back to normal when I restart.

Please help

I know this got moved but I will at least sugest getting the codes pulled to see what the trans is ticked off about. Also your going to come out better if you had access to carsoft or some other more advanced scan tool as the trans codes are not pullable with a normal scanner.

Your probably screwed one way or the other more than likely because I would bet the dealership or probably anywhere else you take it to will tell you that your trans is toast and you will need a new one for a gazillion dollars. If Im right and this comes to pass then find a shop or order a trans off the internet for $1500 or so. Dont let the dealership rip you for mega money.

Its probably something simple and fixable but your not likely to have access to anyone that will help you fix it without selling you a new trans

It could be something as simple as the dealership computer adjusting the tranny. I got the same car and it took them about 1 hour to readjust mine. 90 minutes in and out of the dealership. They knew what it was right away, but had to run it through the entire check to eliminate other problems. It a happened about 9 months ago with no problems since.
