I miss my BMW

Boy, my 735il sold today and I miss it like nothing. The used bimmer market in Michigan sucks. I'm gonna be looking for a while. I gotz 2500 bucks to get another one.
Anybody got a lead nearby, let me know. I'm for the time being driving a 97 taurus with a nickname of "stinky" Whaaaaa!

eww, a ford. you really need to get crackin on your next car. what are you going to be looking for though. $2500 would be a nice down payment on most newer cars, but then you will have monthly payments. what are your plans?

My plans are to use the 2500 to buy another old beat Bimmer, fix it and sell it again like I just did so I can progressively buy a better Bimmer.

I bought the 1988 735il for 600 bucks, put in $500 in parts, plus some elbow grease and sold it for $2,600 after putting in 1600 miles on it.

Looked in your area. You were right about the lack of affordable bimmers. Same here though, really can't find much for under $10000 which doesn't make it too easy to do what you're planning. The ones I have found are snatched up quickly.

It took me over a month to find the previous one, granted it was a diamond in the ROUGH. I made out ok and had fun. Willing to travel a bit. I went to Chicago which seems to be an excellent place due to the massive amount of Bimmers there. Didn't look on craigslist which was a mistake. I didn't have much time there, saw a 92 525i white. They wanted 2k. I offered 1, the guy didn't go for it because he was just a peon there. He had one shot at it, so did I. It was a good car, needed steering pump or something, reservoir was full but steering was hard. Needed brakes all around. Driver window work, cosmetic leather work here and there, seats were in good shape, just cracked. Had a ding in the rear passengers door, fuel door was off, but in the trunk, most tools were there, service records and manual there as well. I kinda liked it, wasn't allowed to drive it fast, only around the block. Transmission was redone in 02 per receipt found in record book. Maybe I would have payed 1200 out the door, what do you think?

It has 165K it looks good IRL as well Inside and out. No rust at all. Very few small dings a couple of tiny scratches. A small crack in the windshield by the mirror about 3 inches long can't see it from the inside. I'm having it replaced next week, looks like somebody messed with the mirror it has goop coming out ot it, like dried insulation foam. I might get a Gentex mirror with a compass for it. Leather is truly immaculate. Headliner starting to sag a bit in the back not too bad. Real problems are a small oil leak, midengine. I'm using Lucas snake oil already, it stopped a huge leak in the timing covers of my 735il. Locks don't work they're stuck in the up knob position. Unbudging. Can lock the trunk This is the worse problem for me yet, I need to lock the car to use it. The radio reads code and the decal with the serial is gone already. The CD caddy is missing. It needs suspension work, took it to get an alignment and it probably needs lower control arm bushings and the center track rod. Whew!

He should've accepted your offer. He's not getting $1900 for it.

my neighbor has almost the exact same car. they just replaced the water pump and some other things, but i dont think they know how to get it running good.

thats not bad though, but i would definately check it out a bit more to make sure its going to be worth the trouble. if you are really intent on it, i would keep bothering them and low balling them to get the right price on it.

Hey there "beam man" I wish I had your knowledge of cars. When or if you get this car you have to post it so we or I can see it. With my old bimmer I'm just having a hard time just trying to figure out the crazy radio system, let alone even changing the oil yet. As you can tell I'm very new to bimmers and I must say there is more to them electrically than I would have expected. But right on to you!!! Again if are when you get one to fix up. Please post a picture.
