Navigation firmware v31 released with updates for MKIV

For those that didn't see my posts earlier, navigation firmware v30 did not contain any updates for MKIV (only idrive), so it was understood that development on the MKIV NAV had ceased. Well, that understanding was incorrect. Firmware v31 is out and the version number for the MKIV does go from 4-1/91 to 4-1/100. It is not yet known what changes have been made.

I'll have to hack it with my updates here in the next week or so.

It's available on MegaUpload here and it's in NRG (Nero image) format.

Sweet. Thanks Kris. You rule. I had almost given up on checking for nav updates.

Thanks for the upload!

So will this update work for my E46 "Professional Sat Nav"? I can't stand the 2D map, presumably this will give me a 3D map right? I'm almost tempted to go back to my Ipaq and Tomtom. How is it that Tomtom 2 through to Tomtom 6 are all better than the Sat Nav provided in my bimmer?

Yes, it'll work for you and yes, it'll give you 3D. You'll have to enable 3D after installing it. I've got instructions on how to do that on my web page. I've also got a hacked version of v29.1 that I made - I'll get around to hacking v31 soon (basically a different startup screen, sky, and menu text).

I installed V31 tonight on my MkIV-based E39. I haven't found any obvious differences from V29.1. The upgrade was smooth, 3D perspective is still working fine.

The firmware version is listed as SW 4-1/00, not 4-1/100,

Here's a link to the V31 technical service bulletin, which basically says that no new significant features are added.

http://www.x5world.com/450864-post1.html

I realize this isn't a tremendously helpful post, but I thought I'd let those interested know that the upgrade went smoothly.

Thanks for the info. This is why I love these forums.
I guess if there is no real improvement to be had, then I'll sit on my v29.1

I went out to several of the aforementioned links to download updated firmware (currently running pre v27). None of the links appear to ab active. Can someone help/direct me to a site with the latest firmware downloads?

Thanks!

Would that work on a 2006 E46 convertible?
If so, could I convince you to ship it to me? please...

Please don't pay anyone to do this. A blank CD is 10 cents and it takes a few minutes of your time to download the file and burn it with imgburn.com.

I am really not a technical person and I am afraid to screw up my Nav. Perhaps I can convince you to do this has a favor. Think of Karma.

I knew a hot girl named Karma. Kris can think about her. Seriously fernando, go to x5world.com, do search for v31 firmware, and you will see instructions and all. C'est bon.

more questions

1.If my nav hasn't been updated since 05 (screen shows SW4 -1:40), will the v31 update have all previous updated info? or do I you need to load all of these?
2. Do you burn it to DVD or CD?
3. On x5 world, there is a V32, is this the newest version?
thanks
