Help! 03 325xi engine swap

Motor swap !!! I need some advice guys, I'm a newbie here ,new to the BMW. Here's my issue, I have a 2003 BMW 325 Ix ,I bought a motor to replace the old one, it is out of a 2000 325 I
I'm told I have to replace off my 2003 engine the intake and ECM . Possibly switch oil pan 's and use the 2000 motor's ECU. ( not sure where that is ) , Is there anything else I have to change or do ? Thanks

Have you used the search function to discover all that's been written on this topic previously? you'll learn more that way than anyone is going to re-write here for you.

There are plenty of places to search for; you don't have to be limited to just here. E46fanatics, for instance, is sure to have some threads on the topic.

One thing to closely consider: there was no 325i in model year 2000. There was a 323i; they both are 2.5L engines, but different head and tuning and maybe some other stuff. But to use it in your car, you probably need to transfer some pieces from the old engine to the "new" one. As you know, it's a different oil pan, due to the front differential.

Using the 2000 ECU is looking for trouble, as it's not likely to work with the later electronics in the 2003. Coding at least would be required.

Good luck.

Thank you for your input. Actually there was 325 I 's built in 2000. Google it. That's what my doner motor came out of. Your right , the oilpan does have to be changed.

Notice I said "model year", not "year".

Does simplify things, however; fewer things to swap.
