What's her car - the offsets are a little whacky compared to what we've known for the BMWs up till now.

Got a couple on the rear bumper until I re-livery

Well, the car continues to make progress. With some wider tires than we had at WSIR and -2 deg. of camber, the car is starting to show some promise. Ralph was able to establish an H-Stock record of 2:11.000 on #1 CW configuration




It's looking a little beefier with 255/40x17s on all 4 corners

Thanks - it's a work in progress, but we're working on it. Our goal is build a 135i capable of breaking all of the existing H-Stock records in our region.

Oh, I forgot one very important element - get one hell of a driver to pilot the dang thing. Ralph Warren is one of the best BMW Club Racers in the country (about 15 or so BMW CR track records to his credit).

In between events, we prepare the car for upcoming events (inlcuding shows) and work on our livery.

Scott Kim of AAE came over to our humble garage in HB and installed clear bra on the hood -

For stock class, we're not allowed to - we'd have to move to prepared class to put a LSD in a car that does not come factory with one.

In the down time, more livery work. Adding hood decals and more colorful numbers

I'm debating on getting one next month and tuning it after or just getting something with more power to begin with.

Did you get an ECU tune with any other mods done How does that car feel and handle on the track Since you removed the front factory seat, do you know how much each of the factory seats weighed in at

I'm wondering how much more weight can be shed off of that car. I think the major weight can be saved from the stock wheels,stock battery,stock exhaust and front seat.

What is current weight of the vehicle? I can't imagine much more weight savings then you currently have.

Also, did you upgrade cooling? (intercooler, oil cooler radiator, etc?)

With about a half tank of gas, it's around 3400 lbs. - which isn't much more than our required weight (around 3375 range)

Our plan is to get Dinan Software in Sept.

We could maybe shed a little more with an aftermarket passenger seat (stock seat weighs around 58 lbs.), but then we'd be pretty close to our class weight (around 3375). It is legal to change some of the other things (battery, exhaust), but if unless we need to lose more weight, there is not much incentive. Car is starting to show some promise on track, but it is heavy and does understeer.

BMW Club Racing is looking into reviewing a lot of the weights based on whether or not BMW factored in a 180 lb. driver as part of the listed weights.

You still get understeer after you changed the suspension,camber,wheels and tires I can't remember the name of the place right off hand but there was a famous place that did my settings for my camber and toe-in on my E46 ZHP and I had no understeer with that car. On my last 130i I also had no understeer after doing a few mods

The LSD helped a lot on both the E46 and E87 that I had. Proper wheel/tire size combo was also important.

If we could use true coilovers and aftermarket adjustable camber plates, we'd be a lot closer to neutralizing the understeer. But on our Crevier M3, even with all of those things (-4 deg. camber, 275 front tires and front track pushed out as far as possible), it still has low speed understeer at some tracks. So based on the limitations of our rules in stock class, we may never be able to make the car fully neutral.

But we are a long way from done on this car, so as the months go by, we'll keep trying ways within the rules to improve the handling.

Thanks - it was all nip and tuck as far as the scheduling and logistics to make it all happen in time for the article deadline.

Now we've got to get to work to make the car faster.
