Price Increases as of June 1

This is a cross post but I thought it may get better viewing here after I posted it elsewhere.

BMW will be implementing price increases to all models, excluding the 1, X6 and M3.

There will be package increases and a bump to the destination charge.

So I'll cross-post my question here as well

My understanding from the disclaimer at the bottom is that already ordered vehicles with a production number are exempt from the price increase...how does this work with ED? I emailed my CA but as he is away, I thought I'd ask the rest of y'all.
Example: I have a production number and confirmed pick-up in Munich. My paperwork will be done the first week of July, last day of June if lease program terms tank. Pick-up will be July 18th at the Welt. Redelivery sometime in August/September. Does the September 1, 2008 deadline stated in the bulletin mean Welt delivery or stateside delivery...I hope Welt as I will already making lease payments!! Thanks.

you will have a 60 day lock on the lease rates once you fill out the paperwork. Your delivery date is the day you pick it up regardless of where. Things need to be finalized by the 9th of May IIRC. So if you have already placed your order and will have it delivered before the end of August you should be fine.

My dealer is telling me that if I want to order an X3 from the factory pre-price increase, that the order needs to be in by tomorrow (may 8). Sounds like a pressure tactic, but I saw a comment about May 9th on that other thread. I would've thought that as long as you get a production number before june 1 you're in the clear. Does anyone know the facts?

According to what was posted (I'm not a dealer, so not authoritative source) your dealer is almost telling you the truth....read the first posting. It has to be status sold with your name on it by May 9 or you get the price increase on the order. Personally I'd give him the extra day for insurance if you are getting an acceptable deal, I'd rather be safe. Remember it has to be IN THE SYSTEM, not just on a handwritten sales order.

I've got a confirmed ED date, but haven't completed my PO. Does this mean I need to have the PO done by tomorrow?

This is the email I got from a dealer:

Due to the dollar v. Euro exchange rate, and competitor's price increases, BMW will be raising the prices on most of their vehicle line-up, as well as on select options/packages.

These price increases will happen this coming Friday, May 9th, 2008 and again for the 2009 model year.

If you currently have a vehicle that you have already ordered, please contact your Client Advisor and ensure they price protect your order!!!!

If you have any intention of purchasing a new BMW or placing an order, you may do so and secure the current prices by contacting your Client Advisor, or a Sales Manager by the close of business on Friday, May 9, 2007.

Should you elect, you may pick any unit from our large inventory which is at the current pricing by viewing www.bmwoffairfax.com. This will ensure that you receive the vehicle you want at the lowest prices for the model year.

In order to help our clients, BMW Financial Services is offering low finance and lease rates on our inventory which is in stock or attainable within a reasonable period of time through our vast network.

If you would like more details, have any questions, or would like to place an order, please do not delay.

You're good. No worries there. No on the PO. As long as your order is priority R, 1, or 0, you'll be fine. Since you're in, you're good.

Hrm, is that true - in-stock vehicles are available at rates better than the forthcoming 5% residual drop etc? If that is true it may prompt me to make an offer on an in-stock vehicle at the dealer.

It seems to me there may still be some trunk money on in stock vehicles. A Client Advisor at a NC dealership just email-quoted me a few minutes ago an offer 1k BELOW invoice on a 535i, though I swear they know I was ordering a car because of the anthracite headliner. Not sure about it. I, however, already came to an agreement with Adrian this morning. I wonder if they were lowballing me to get me in, so they could say, ohhhhh...you want to order a car (takes trunk money away, zoink)????

Yeah, something is up. I checked my dealer's website (www.tulleybmw.com - Nashua, NH), and their lease special page is advertising old rates (I think) on a few in-stock vehicles that is valid until "May 12 @ 8pm." Might be worth a phone call.

Check edmunds.com for trunk money--it's still there for Z4s anyway--I didn't look at anything else. But trunk money is only good if you take delivery before the expiration date!

There's an option bonus for premium package and other stuff on in stock cars.

I also had to make the tough decision of taking an in stock 535xi sport wagon or ordering. As much as I wanted to take one for the team and take the in stock model, I did the same thing as you and ordered almost the same car sans the active steering. My wife also wanted the anthracite headliner and I wanted logic 7 both of which were not on the in stock 5 wagon. Thus, we ordered.

Thanks for your support and business, Mysticblue325i!!

Dang, I just started the shopping process a few days ago and was planning to lease a 335xi coupe. I haven't completed my research yet, and am a little reluctant to rush this since it will be my first lease. Having said that, however, the price increase is putting me in two minds-should I rush to the dealership tomorrow and put in an order or complete my research and hope the price drops in the next several months?

My 2 cents:

When it comes to leasing, the price increase will probably affect you less than the residual drop. I had priced out an E93 328i lease for a friend. If I play around with that spreadsheet again,

1. Price increase of $1,000 at invoice level and $1,200 at MSRP level changes the pretax monthly payment from 600 to 612.

2. Changing the residual from 73% to 68% changes that 612 to 710

3. Haven't even taken into account any MF increases yet

Yeah, I confused the change in lease rates for May and the June price increase. Either way, I started my car search at the end of April so I didn't have time to catch the April lease rates.
