Try Auto Advantage, Inc. They offer 4 yr 60K component warranty starting at $2600. Yours may be cheaper since it is an '04. Web site: www.autowarranties.com.

I just got one from Carchex for 2438.00 for 4 years or 100,000 miles. However in NJ since i got it after I hit 50k they would not cover NAV or IDrive even for an additional cost. Everything else is covered stero, amp wear and tear, leaks etc... warranty direct offered a total coverage package but the cost went to 5k so for the difference I'm taking my chances with NAV and the IDrive.

BMW backs their certified program themselves as far as I know, that is why it actually has a bunch of exclusions if you read the CPO handout.

Toyota on the other hand uses Fidelity, which is a JM Group company.

Auto Advantage provides good coverage for reasonable prices for vehicles that others WON'T warranty or are sky high for, however GMAC and Fidelity are probably the best aftermarkets out there (although I believe they are both sold through brokers or dealers.)

l2c, the one thing that concerns me about their exclusions is the "bright metal" one. That can be anything, no? Does the warranty cover an o2 sensor? Does anyone know if it will cover the computers in the car? Thats the only reason I want to get a warranty...All the electronics on the car scare me

I highly recommend that everyone take a look at MBA Direct at http://www.mbadirect.com. Their Gold Plan, their best plan, provides exclusionary coverage (http://www.mbadirect.com/Automotive/...ionaryCoverage) warrantied by Old Republic Insurance Company and their rates are very competetive. I had it on my previous vehicle and recently purchased it for my wife's Lexus. I'm doing same right before the factory warranty expires on my 745Li later this year. Ask for Lula at x369. She's been a pleasure to work with. And don't forget to mention the promo code on their home page to knock off an extra $50.

So what kind of pricing is dose MBA offer for the Gold Plan? Sounds like you have done your homework. And dose it need to be in place b4 your factory warr. expires to recieve a decent rate?

Pricing varies depending on where you live, the current mileage of the vehicle, the length of the extended warranty coverage and the amount of the deductible.

The warranty should be purchased more than 30 days before the factory warranty expires. This qualifies under their "new vehicle" plan. If less than 30 days, then you qualify for a "used vehicle" plan which may (very likely) be more expensive.

One important thing I learned is that when the vehicle is under 35k miles, you can get coverage up to 5 years. But once the vehicle exceeds 35k miles, the maximum coverage available is 4 years. However, the price of the same 4 year plan was several hundreds less when over 35k miles than when under 35k miles.

I hope this answers your questions.

What ?? no.

rich city, BMW does not factory warranty any car over 100k. no matter what. In almost all cases it takes a CPO to get you to 100k. (save 02-03 7's)
