I think the F01 might not work for him because he already said even a new E66 would be too much in payment
![]() If you are going to lease wassy then you may want to look at a 550i, I'm not really sure what else in the BMW world is going to come close to replacing a brand new E65/6. On that note... I too am curious what pushed them over the edge on granting you the total loss status. Also, I have got to wonder what that thing is going to go for at auction as-is. Probably 30-40k. There are companies that do leases on used cars as well, but I'm sure since you are used to new cars that is what you want.

I face quite a few dilemma's, actually.
1. In the past 10 years, I've driven 4 E39's, 3 E60's, 2 E65'ers, and a portridge in a ..... no joke. I'm Beemer all the way, but getting a little bored. new F01 is 6 months out minimum, and full pop sales price for a while, no doubt. New 5'er not out until late '09. So, back to something I've been driving for a while. Love it, but even I need a refresher. 2. I know, I know, I know. Got heck of deal on current 750i. Best I'm able to do right now on an exact replica (MSRP wise) - $200 more a month, and that's going to 36 months, which is out for me. I'm $250 more for 24 months. 3. Thought about M3, but that really is a bit small for my family of 4.. Most practical option is what my buddy Playdrive4me said.. rent something and wait for the F01, and whatever other surprise changes on other models are in store.. Or the New Hyundai Genesis loaded for $99 down and $99/month. just kidding. but probably a great car (behind the badge) at a great price for those interested.

Now is a good time to get yourself a spare car. Buy yourself a 4 or 5 year old 3 convertible and wait on the F01.

+1 for what made them total it (off line, or the wait, or thoughts of you deciding you were hurt and wanting you to go away)?
Glad your going forward, but y not thoughts of a 12 mos lease that you could prob get cheap as they are trying anything to move cars and that would let you get a F01 6 mos in when you could work a better deal. Saw the 250+ a mos comment of a lease and thought "y isnt your selling dealer trying to help you??

to answer everyone's question about what changed their mind. I think the bottom line is I don't know. But I strongly believe and it was hinted that the pulling of the dash, the potential for even more damage, another seat being replaced about about $6k a seat, etc, and my asking 100 times probably did it. the mold is a big issue to me and the potential for mold was probably the catalyst. That coupled with my being a PITA to them probably did it.
My big dilemma now appears to be what to get. the replacement identical 7'er is $100 more a month, apples to apples same money down. a 535i with $90,970 MSRP is $25 less, same money down which I wouldn't do on the 5 series. Looked at the M35, and they are changing that in a few months. Jaguar XF looks really nice, but al those thoughts of shop visits.. wait? shop visit? I'm used to that with my BMW! we'll see. Probably just keep renting for a little while until the right "deal" comes along.

LOL I assume you meant *50,970* MSRP on the 535i?! And I agree 25.00 less wouldnt excite me either.

no 12 mos lease ideas ... what are the costs in that??? or maybe try the Genesis till you get to the F01.
Thats what you want right?

not going to get a Genesis. and the F01 would be great, but my experience with first year vehicles is not good. especially with the new Idrive system.. let a few months pass. 12 month leases are prohibitive cost wise.

Gotcha, I noticed your post (I forgot to quote it) said -90,970- which threw me off lol.
As far as the F01, I'm not quite sure how waiting for that car works in this scenario? You really don't seem to want to go up in payment and I'm assuming the F01 is going to be MORE money with practically ZERO discounts when it is new thereby raising the payment even further... Does waiting for one of those really help? And yes, the 1st year issues deal too.
