Help please I have 2004 745i I no that it has auto level lights but they not moving. I have checked all wiring and sensors front and rear all look in great shape.
I searched everywere and can only find discriptions of what they are and not what to do if they stop working. Anyone know were to start with this? Is there a fuse I can cheack or something? |

The headlights are supposed to "initialize" when you first turn the car on and go up one time and down one time. I think if there is a bad level sensor they won't move at all.

If the self leveling is bad, you will get a message on your idrive screen.

my X5 had the sensor disconnect, for this it was under the car attached to the control arm not sure if the 7 is setup the same way but thats all it was for me.

Hey make sure that you have your headlight switch (knob) turned to the left to the little A or whatever is there ... IT DOES NOT WORK in MANUAL (ON) mode as I have found.
Any1 else with correct contradicting information feel free to make me sound like an idiot that though he knew something ... Its definitely beginning to be a bad day for me.

ok they dont go threw the initialize. I have checked the sensors on the control arms both look great. knob is in auto position, and I dont get anything in the i drive system. Does anyone know is there a fuse somwere? I looked at the fuse box and i dont see anything labled for the head lights. There is one for adaptive head lights but I don't have that option. No I don't have warranty anymore 80,000 miles.

Well the lights moving by motor is the "Adaptive Head Lights" the auto-level lights possibly are just sitting in a gyro of some sort so they wouldnt "initialize" or move with the steering wheel

I hear my initialize when I start the car, not sure if they move but sure they are pointing in different directions. Driver's side points down, pass side points up...not sure what to do....I'm gonna get my a.. kicked one of these days. People think I am giving them the high beams....Good think I can probably out run most cars out there...

i do know that there are two holes in each side that if you stick an allen wrench in you are able to addjust hight and width.

They DO in-fact "initialize" when you start the car, every BMW I've ever had with xenon headlights has done it. Up once - Down once then STOP once the system determines it is properly leveled.
