They are available if your dealer is willing to make them available to you, if you aren't a hardass then you will receive a MF .0004 higher than the posted rates.

SD waiver has the rate adder yes

this is pretty good news for me. finaly getting rid of my car in the next 2 weeks and i have been trying to work out a 328xi lease but trade in was getting me killed. so i didnt lock May rates, and June MF is better so i am ending up ahead now. wonder if the trend will continue... since 09s will be coming in and they will look to move the 08s.

It will be interesting to see what happens to BMW sales this summer. I am seeing some very aggressive lease deals from Infiniti (e.g 350 a month for a G35 with AWD and NAV).

Upto $3K down is required upfront though. You're really talking about $484/mo.

The Ad I saw indicated $0 upfront but even $484 is quite a bit cheaper than a loaded 335xi will cost.

I read somewhere that BMW was redirecting cars to other markets. These changes in their lease terms may be related to that.

I was just told from the dealer the following (worse) money factors:
for a 36 and 48 month term, .00265

Above it states .00210 (for 36) and .00263 (for 48)

Is my dealer BSing me? Can these money factors be negotiated down?

this is for a 335i coupe by the way

yeah he is bulding in his profit. Dealers are allowed to increase up to 0.00040 on top of the buy rate above. you can negotiate i down to the buy rate if they are taking a profit somewhere else.
looks like he is willing to deal on the 48 month as he has only increased 0.00002 to the money factor.

Is it me or the residual has gone down? I thought it used to be in the 60's for 36 months? Even for 12k miles for 36 months.
Is it because we are coming to the end of the 08 model year?

Cheers

Nick

yes it went down in some models.
I assume thats the reason which is making me think that it might not be a bad idea to wait a little longer as they will be trying to get leftover 08s out of the lots. but who knows.

Search and you will find plenty of discussion on this topic. BMW lost a lot of money because they inflated residuals so now they lowered them to be more in line with what the cars are worth at auction. The consensus seems to be that the fact that we are coming to the end of the model year has little to do with the decrease in residuals.

I was quoted the same rate (.00265) by a dealer here in the SF Bay Area, saying that this was the buy rate with no markup. (36 months, 135i coupe, 15k miles)

I think your dealers are doing full MF markup (0.0004) over the base rate. Right now FL and SoCal dealers are doing badly. The 335 is one of their best selling car and they will squeeze out the MOST from any buyer of these cars.

Well, if you look at the first post the buy rate for your car (135i coupe) is 0.00263. Considering that the dealers are allowed to markup the money factor by 4 points it is pretty obvious he is trying to BS you. He could mark that money factor up all the way to .00267 but the buy rate is still .00263.

Watch where you put that decimal point. If the buy rate is .00263, a dealer is permitted to mark that all the way up to .00303, not .00267.

For the poster who asked, though, you most certainly can (and should) negotiate the MF back down to the buy rate, which is what LeaseCompare (Tarry) has posted above.

Hi Tarry - the MFs, residuals, etc.. on the LeaseCompare site do not match this posting - How would we get access to these lease rates?

M3 Lease Question

I wonder if the rates have changed for July?

I was quoted the following for an M3 sedan:

36 month lease
18k miles per year
No cap cost reduction

Residual: 56%
Money factor: 0.00292

Based on my read of this forum, it sounds like they are playing games.

Thoughts on this?

That math is totally wrong - the residual should be closer to 50% on 18k/year. Also are jacking up your MF. You should run the math yourself to see if that's helping or hurting, but basically they are being generous on the residual, but ripping you on MF - and that may be better than being accurate on residual and MF.

There are no residuals for 18k/yr, you pay miles up front over 15k

This is very helpful.

OK, so what is the residual on 15k miles per year for 36 months?

I am also now talking with someone about a 39 month lease (BMW seems hot on this, he tells me). What is the residual on 15k per year for 39 months?

And finally, I assume that I pre**** the additional 3k miles per year at .15 per?

Thanks!

Could anybody post a helpful site that explains the formula and how to use these factors?
Thanks

The residuals are in the original post, the chart, above. For the M3 sedan, it's 53%, with a base money factor of .00263.

I don't think a dealer can change the residual to 56%. If I'm not mistaken, BMW FS sets them, and they are what they are - period. They can mark up the money factor, if they choose, but that's negotiable, and you can and should insist on getting the "buy" rate or base money factor. For the M3 sedan, the base money factor is .00263, and they can mark it up as much as .0004, to .00303.

I don't know, offhand, what additional miles cost for the M3, but for my 330i, it's 20 cents a mile, and it's certainly not going to be less for a car that's 50% more expensive. I'll bet it's somewhere between 20-30 cents a mile for the M3.
