New key and programming

Hi all, can I just purchase this key for my '03 745? I only have one key. What does it take to program it?

Depends on how many remotes have already been programmed for your car. With comfort access you can only have three programmed fobs. After three the dealer has to delete old/lost fobs and start over. Don't know how a used fob works but I'm sure the dealer would have to get involved.

My new fob with key insert was $200 at the dealer.

keys are vin specific so ebay ones wont work.

true, a lot is beeing stored on the key fob. service details, etc.

Why are you in the market for a key?
If you lost your 2nd keyfob I think best thing to do is go to your BMW dealership.

My car only came with one. I was told that the keys at the dealership run around $200 so I was checking to see if the $30 key from ebay would work.
