Pickup time at 9 AM, enough time to drive to Garmisch?

Our pickup time is 9:10am, but from what I understand this is just the "check-in" time. How long can we expect to spend at the Welt, including the factory tour? I'd like to drive to Garmisch that same day if possible.

That'll leave you plenty of time to drive there in the afternoon/evening.

Yup, I picked up my car at 4:20 and I still made it past Garmisch down in to Innsbruck.

I would suggest getting there before your check in time if you want to do a factory tour. I had a 2:20 check in time and there weren't any more English tours available. Luckily we were in Munich for one more day and went the next morning.

The drive from Munich to Garmisch should only take ~ 1 hour once you get going.

Pickup time is 8:30 * July

I received my notice on Saturday with my pickup time. My ETA in Munich on Lufthansa is 0535 on 8 July. I need to check with my SA to insure I have enough time to get to Die Welt from the Airport. Right now I'm planning on taking the S-Bahn. If time is an issue, I may look at getting another pickup time or Rolf or other options.

May see you there!

You will have plenty of time to make it to Garmisch. I will be heading there as well.

You'll be able to make it to Torino or Venice, if jet lag doesn't get you.

Check-in time is 90 minutes ahead of the actual pick-up time (from ED 800# info that was given to me). I don't know how long is the Museum and factory tour.

The factory tour is 2.5 hours, as is the Museum I believe. I'm not sure though because the museum is getting bigger so it may be longer

Cutting it a bit close? Where are you planning on staying in Garmisch. I'm looking to spend two nights there, but not quite sure where.

I'll be staying at the US Armed Forces Recreation Center. I'm retired military. I have two sons who opted to stay elsewhere and they have reservations at a Hotel Edelweiss in Garmisch. Coincidentally, that is also the same name as the military hotel but is a German owned. The German hotel has a web site if you want to check it out or google it but I don't have the link to it.

I am cutting it close and have about a 55 minute cushion. I understand that Die Welt doesn't open officially until 9 am. I'm checking out a later time or late arrival issues. In any event, the German train and S/U Bahn systems are pretty efficient and usually run like clockwork.

Ended up booking a few nights at the Rierssee Spa. Hopefully it's nice for $180/night.
