Question Need help. code P0170, Fuel Trim Bank 1

Does anyone know what would set code P0170 fuel trim bank 1, 2000 540 sport 6 spd. 114,000 miles.

Could be a lot of things. Intake leak, bad fuel pressure regulator, oxygen sensor, CCV, etc.

Do you know the trim values?

Mein Auto: 525i
Had the same problem with my e39. I also had a whisling sound when I hit the gas. As it turned out the Service Air Mass Meter Boot had a hole (just old rubber) After i replaced it, the error didn't come back.

It's the second part of the big rubber hose after the air filter. Look here:

Thank for the replies, I will fin the trim values on Friday morning and also ck the intake boot. My wife did wreck it last winter on the rt frt corner. Thanks again, i let you know. The 02 sensor have not been replaced yet!
