I really hope Flow BMW is reading this stuff still, because this type of "service" is pretty pathetic.

That's a standard sales tactic (at car dealerships): they make you wait, and see just how long you're willing to invest your time into the process. The longer you wait, the more they figure you're really wanting to close the deal.

I personally hate it. It's just another trick to make you--who really has the lion's share of the power in the negotiations--give them power in the process.

Oh, if the other poster could just go back in time and after 20 minutes start walking out, you'd see just how fast they would come out and talk to him. Yes, they were watching him the whole time.

+1

I have to say, buying our last two cars at Fields BMW in Winter Park Fl has been painless - really. I have gone in with all the numbers worked out to the last $, using internet data, including what I believe is a realistic transaction price for our local market, minus some wiggle room.

I have lined up my financing/cash in advance, and have a plan and value in mind for my trade.

I see my CA (Cool guy who drives a stick 3er) and hand over my printout. He takes it to the Sales Mgr, within 5 minutes comes back.

If the price is not what I have in mind, I thank my CA profusely and walk out the door.

Usually this takes a few weeks and two or three goes before we end up with an agreement.

No hassle, no muss, I get a car at a price I like, the Sales Manager gets another sale. Easy.

When the negotiations are done, I make a point of thanking my CA in front of the Sales Manager for all the time he spends with Mrs. Wingspan and myself explaining all the different options and packages.

Yes, I realize that we might leave some money on the table, because typically in the Central Fl market many cars are sold "off the lot" with automatic gearboxes and premium packages. We order our cars from the factory, but we also have the cars serviced there locally and want to know that we'll be taken care of.

Taking time to work out a relationship built on mutual respect has resulted in a "no fuss" service experience for us. Our cars are always squeeky clean, we receive very nice new BMW Loaner cars. Over the last five years we've had some marginal situations (e.g. worn Alcantara Steering wheel on my E46, sudden nail in tire on Mrs. W's X3 that needed to be sorted out on a busy Saturday) where the Service Department has gone beyond what is required.

What do I hear every time?

Quote: "We'll take care of that Mr. Wingspan".

We always give them a "5" because frankly the service experience is superior.

I don't know if they scan the internet, but I don't mind because I tell it like I see it.

Thats rich...go back and have a look at your posts. I guess now that you have an e90 you are more worthy than any other BMW owner. Good for you. You strike me as pure badge buyer.

Then to bring race into the equation.

You need to get your therapy somewhere else.

I'm embarrassed for you.

What makes this an interseting thread is the fact that its almost unthinkable. To see someone treated in such a way from a BMW dealership is horrible. We can all picture ourselves in coontie's shoes and therfor can relate to his experience.

Actually, I'm having a hard time picturing it: I can follow along until I sit down and the two of them start their spiel. Then I go all medieval on their ass. End of story.

So does Flow have a file on each person who posts a less-than-flattering comment about their dealership? There is more free time in the car business than I had previously assumed.

I would wager that they ran out of file folders today for some reason.

LOL, they've filed everyone one of us who've posted in this topic, and they're just waiting, itching, dying for us to use their dealership -- months from now -- so they can take us into their backroom and shove printouts in our faces.

Can't wait for my next vacation in NC, I'll have to stop in...

Interesting...it's still the middle of page 4 when I searched with Goggle -- even using the link from the prior post. Well, anyway...still pretty high...and climbing!

So far the story has had all the ingredients of a good e-thriller: it started innocently enough with a test drive only to immediately spin out of control with a sodomizing broomstick, followed by intense covert internet investigations, a surreal interrogation chamber, bad coffee, a sprinkle of legalese that nobody understood, a vocal representative from the Canadian I'll-shove-it-up-the-Customer's... association, panned out to the world of rich dealership owners and ended on the powerful note of public outcry.

Can't wait for part two where the coffee machine gets fired.

Quite frankly, even though I'm familiar with the rough and tumble of forums (I've been an admin of an international political forum), I can't believe how many of you are ready to lynch a dealership and its employees on the unproven word of just one customer. That's actually pathetic.
Nice of you to join us, Mrs. Flow...

I'll actually agree with you to an extent. While I think the alleged actions of the Flow employees were incredibly stupid and horribly unprofessional, I'm sure Flow has many happy customers (as well as unhappy ones) and some posters are going a bit overboard in making this out to be some sort of crime against humanity (but I might not use the "lynch" word repeatedly like you did - especially if I was a self-confessed conservative living in the South). The posting of the phone number and address for Don Flow was ridiculous. I understand it was found by doing a simple Internet search, but we shouldn't encourage the idiots that would be inclined to call and harass.

Done only to illustrate a point (or several points including how Flow BMW gathered information on line and there is a LOT of information about Flow and its principals available on line as well). I liked the Google Earth shot of their house though, nice touch.
