im sorry to hear about your experience, my fellow bmw owner... here in northern california, we have a few news media stations that would absolutely jump on a oppurtunity like this and just rape the dealer over the air... i work for a dealer myself and never would any of my fellow managers ever treat a customer like this, 1 bad customer can hurt you more than most people think...

anyways, i would suggest you look into news media and let them know, what the dealer pulled was not right and quite frankly they deserve to be exposed... if they cared enough, the gm and his bum buddy should have sat you down to correct any issues and turn you into a new service/parts and possibly future vehicle customer...

my sincere apologies if these suggestions have already been posted as i didnt not read though the entire 5 pages... and as for the reply from the dealer personel, i dont think you know what you started... search engines will pick up html and find your name posted numerous times in this thread... potential future customers searching your name on the internet will most likely run into this post, and theres goes your reputation...

I would start a blogger.com blog site with their dealership name as the main title so the search engines spider it, after awile, when anyone searches that dealership name, your blog will pop up and they can read this story.

thats ridiculous

Nice. Very clever harjothundal.

Indeed I'd like to see some updates on how the bad publicity parade is going as well (if you persue that route.).

That would be really funny if a dealer tried that with me. Actually the GM already knows how I feel.

The sales process wasn't too bad, but I had to go back in twice to sign paperwork they printed on the wrong forms when I took delivery, and my first service experience was less than stellar.

Careful! With that type of slander you could get in serious legal trouble!

+1. The GM could have turned adversity into opportunity. But maybe they do business differently in NC.

It might sound like 4BMWFamily is defending Flow BMW but this poster makes no mention of his affiliation with the dealership in his posting history. Also, there are some added discrepancies in his previous posts which makes me think that 4BMWFamily has very likely included bogus information regarding coontie's story. Some examples, that gives question to the truthfulness of his posts:

1. If he is affiliated with and works at the dealership, why would he state in a post that he went out of his way to test an 535 during a weekend?

2. He had previously stated that he took an extended test drive in an ///M Roadster. Only someone affiliated would be able to do this easily. Most dealers would avoid to have someone test drive one to add lots of miles on it for no reason. Also someone would only be able to test drive one usually if they are serious about purchasing one.

But the kicker is why is he stating it in this way: "The local dealer let us...", making it sound like the poster is not affiliated with this dealer?

The local dealer let us take it for an extended test drive, and I still get that craving occasionally.

I have to side with coontie with this situation. While it might not be possible to verify coontie's story very easily, I would tend to not question his story because of the honesty in his posts.

He could be an imposter he could not be...it doesn't really matter in my opinion. I believe coontie and now know that FLOW and other dealers watch these forums. I hope Flow sees the kind of trouble they have stirred up.

BTW JSpira if that info is accurate...well done!

There have been a number of posts that warn about slander in a serious tone. Either we have a bunch of yuppie lawyer 328i owners on this forum trying to scare up some business, or we have a bunch of amateur lawyers high on their recent stay at a Holiday Inn Express (as some have pointed out).

Get real.

First of all, call it the right thing. Slander refers to spoken communication. "Libel" is the one that applies to written communication.

So now that we're talking about libel, you have to realize that truth is a valid defense against a frivolous libel lawsuit (thanks, SJK, for pointing this out). If I call a dealership "dingy," and I can come up with some opinions about it that are based on factual interaction with the dealership, then their case would have no merit. Comments about broomsticks and dinginess, therefore, are not even close to grounds for a libel suit because both parties could spin the term. A libelous comment has to be false, malicious, and specific. For example, "BMW of Oz sold me a 3-series with rotting pig carcasses in the trunk, and then invoiced me for Pork bellies at three times the fair market price on the Chicago Merc. When I called to complain, then offered to reduce the price they were charging for the dead pigs. They suck." False, malicious, and specific.

Not to mention that "slander" and "libel" statutes are violations of the United States' 1st Amendment.
