2006 750Li auxiliary output for iPod?

Does the 2006 750Li have an auxiliary output spot for an iPhone? I noticed there's a $299.00 piece you can purchase at a BMW dealership. Would this work with a 2006?

Thanks in advance...

hmm I'm interested too, anyone know if an AUX input can be added like that?

Not Ipod specific, I just want a jack to plug into.

I assume you mean AUX input, not output. I believe this was added with MY 2007 as I have one in my center console and an option in the Entertainment menu selecting it. I bet it can be retro'd since I believe the 2006 uses the newer idrive system. I may be wrong.

However, the easier way to go and better solution is to have the dealer install the ipod kit. It will run you about $600 but the ipod will be fully integrated with the car. I have it and it works well enough for me. As with just about every BMW technical option, it leaves a few things to be desired, but it sounds a lot better than going AUX.

Do note, a simple AUX input hasn't got the quality a iPod kit has.

Too bad I can't get either for my '06 750Li because I have rear entertainment. My only real option appears to be a mobridge, install a tape deck in place of the single-slot CD player or to be stuck with mp3 cds For now I'm going mp3 cds but it's a poor substitute for my ipod.

Hmmm, everywhere I looked it said that can't be done. I'll ask my dealer about it when the car goes back in next week to fix half the things they were supposed to fix last week....

What exactly, were you told w/ the reason you couldn't use the interface? If you get the interface you w/ lose the in-dash changer, but gain w/ the iPod. The interface has no effect on the rear ent. @ all in the 06-08.

You lose the in-dash CD changer with the iPod kit? I suppose the mechanical stuff has to go somewhere...

Here is your evidence of an iPod interface in an 2006 750li. I can't believe that the parts manager said it couldn't be done!
Sorry for the garbage pics, its late.

Let's see now what BMW Manhattan will say about this. I truly thank you for this. Where did you get it done? I'm sure they will down play it and say that it was not done by BMW. Once again, thank you sir.

How much for the ipod kit?

I just bought a 760Li and I am curious how much the ipod kit part costs. I was quoted by BMW dealership that everything installed would be about $500. How much of that is labor, i don't know. Does anyone know how much the part is by itself? I will have a professional car stereo center install it for cheaper i am sure.

Will the iPod kit display video on the iDrive screen (when shifted in drive) like I aassume the AUX will ?

I for one do not mind using the iPhone/iPod touchscreen user interface instead of the integrated steering wheel controls....I would just love to watch/hear youtube videos on the iDrive screen while in motion. Also, will the iPhone screen display on the rear entertainment package screen and iDrive screen simultaneously when hooked into the AUX input ?
