Spare tire kit

Got my tire kit from dealer after telling them where they can get it (Bimmerzone) .
Made a cover for tire in the trunk so it doesn't stand out when you open your trunk . you loose a little space but you gain in peace of mine.

Piecing a spare kit together - alternate tire sizes

Looking at the diameter calculations, it does look like a 125/80 would be a much closer fit for my non-sport with 225/45 17's. A 145/70 would also be a near perfect fit.

Both the 125/80 and the 145/70 are readily available used (and still mounted on other car's spare rims) on ebay for $80-$100. In both cases, they are on 4'' rims, so it doesn't seem like there should be any problem mounting them on the E60 rim (36-11-6-758-778).

Does anyone see any issues with going that route?

As far as the jack, a well reviewed ones from Amazon are $25-$35, plus a lug wrench for $12. I suppose I could then cut my own foam insert, but I'm intrigued by the Jaguar kits that include the jack, chock and insert tray, also available for cheap (used) on ebay.

Thoughts?

i'm actually working on something for my F30 along these lines.
a much cheaper alternative. i gave my original kit to my brother when he got an E90. spacer is only needed for the front of the F30, the brakes are even larger than the E90 335i

1) bmw E60 spare tire rim- $60
1) kuhmo 135/90/17 tire - $30
1) harbor freight scissor jack - $20
1) 15mm spacer + 5 45mm lugs - $40

$150 total

I got another X5 jack and jack crank handle from local salvage yard. It fits the jack point on an E90 perfectly. Same price as the harbor freight jack $20+tax. Came from a 2005 X5.

The last one i bought cost alot more as i got it from an online salvage selling through ebay.

Hi folks, I just sold my E90, but I kept the new spare tire kit I got from getBMWparts.com (item# PKSPARETIRE).

I'm selling the kit for for $340 or best offer. Price includes shipping (lower 48 states). I will include the cargo strap that I used to secure the spare tire.

Paypal only, PM me if interested. Thanks.

---SOLD!

Does this fit front and rear?

I have a 2011 335i with sport package (18" staggered wheels). Your pictures show the spare on the front, but if the flat is on the rear can this be installed on the rear as well? Or should a front wheel be put on the rear and the spare put on the front?

Hi,
It will work both at the front and at the rear.
The rear brakes are actually smaller than the fronts, so it will clear the rears

Hope this helps.

Thanks!
