E90/E91/E92/E93 OEM Spare Tire source

There are trunk pics within this thread to get an idea of what space remains. I estimate it consumes ~20% of your prime trunk space.

I have a spare tire for a 335i which was purchased from Leather Z. It comes with the spacer, longer bolts and tire which will come mounted to the wheel. It has never been used. $275 plus shipping or if you're close to Knoxville, TN; then so be it.

In case any one is looking to buy just the wheel + tire, the S/N for the latter has changed. It's now 36110306541, the wheel's S/N is the same, 36116758778.

according to my ETK, the first number is JUST the TIRE, MSRP 118. the second is rim only, 64.50. if you already have the jack kit, it would save you some money, but if your dont, the bmw jack kit is ~130

Yup, I already have the jack kit, so I'm looking at just the tire + wheel ($101 + $51.60 = $152.60 on Morristown BMW online site)

SGcoupe, that is a really near setup, I like it. Did $275 include everything I see in the picture? Jack too?

Has anyone actually relied on driving on one of these during an emergency? What was the experience like?

Also, I seem to remember someone posting before their jack crushed under the weight of the car but thankfully when the tire was on the axle. Was that the jack that comes as part of this kit or did I read that somewhere else? Can't find it in this thread anymore.

none of the local tire shops have anything close to even a regular tire in 255/35/18, so i'm going to have to drive home on the spare. 400 miles back to NYC. its going to suck keeping the speed down. the angry yellow warning label has 50mph listed, but checking the sidewall of the tire has it rated M or 81mph. going to see if i can limp back at 65-70mph. i do not recommend anyone else exceed the listed speed limit on the rim however.


BTW, check the tire pressure in your spare when you get it. it should be at 60psi. i found out today that mine was only at 45.

I swear I read somewhere in this 3er forum that someone had a jack that collapsed -- the threads just stripped straight off.

I am not sure if I want the tire in the trunk, since I would mostly need it when going on long trips, which are the times when I want to use as much of my trunk space as possible with likley 4 people in the car.

i think the jack that failed was the one that comes with the jack kit, jack, lug wrench, torque wrench, chalk, gloves, and chock

I recently got a E90 330i CPO with the 18" staggered setup. One set of the RFTs are quite worn and I have decided to replace all of them with non RFTs. I wanted to make sure that the E60 space saver tire you mentioned in this thread will fit the 2006 330i with the sports package.

Hey guys, if you buy this kit and store it in the trunk like me, watch your tools. I had the torque wrench stolen when I went in for the 'free' oil change. I just noticed as I'm prepping for a road trip last weekend and checked the pressure and I'm missing the torque wrench now. The last person (besides me) to ever have access to the trunk was the 'stealership' when the did their 'comprehensive safety inspection.' Grr. I'm wondering if it's useful because all BMW's use a 17mm socket for the lug bolts? That's just not nice. I hope the wrench is inaccurate and the a-hole strips a bolt. Lucky me uses my craftsman torque wrench, otherwise I'd have noticed earlier...

It should, the sticking point is brake clearance, and the brakes on the 330i are a little smaller than those on the 335i.

Thanks much for the confirmation. I just ordered General Exclaim UHPs from Tirerack. Next stop is Tishcer BMW for the spare tire.

Great example of improvise and overcome by Orient330iNYC. Any chance his spare solution will fit in the 2009 328i convertible with the top down. Was considering an anniversary present for my wife but the run flat issue may have torpedoed that idea. Any help appreciated.

good questioon...does the convertible have like a little box or compartment in the middle of the trunk like some convertibles ? so you can store stuff in it without getting crushed by the convertible hard top...if if does and the tire fits (you'll need the spare tire diameter and height) in the box they you should be good to go.

I was closely following that failed jack story as well. It was up for maybe a week and faded away. Although I don't remember the OP giving us the exact source of his jack I do remember him saying it was an oem jack, not an aftermarket. He even gave the p/n from the mechanism.
The jack collapsed because the theads on the screw stripped off! How something like that could have happened under jacking stresses is difficult for me to understand. I have exactly the same p/n jack as the OP and took a very close look at it after the posting. I just can't imagine those threads stripping off even if you tried cranking up a Mack truck. Something else would fail first.
