By the way, you can configure the 2009s on the Deutschland site already. Did my 330iT yesterday, came out to 42.235, 19% not inclusive. I think the new cloth pattern is cool, but the blinged out knobs stick out like a sore thumb.
MANUAL climate control? How barbaric!

+1 on the panorama moonroof. I have to disagree on the handling though - I had the opportunity a few years back to thread an E91 325i Touring vs. an E90 325i sedan though an emergency lane-change maneuver (closed course - both with ZSP), and the Touring's rear end would wag/step out of line at a notably slower speed than the sedan's would. This might be due to the wagon's higher CG. Either way, there is a noticeable difference at the limit, but for everyday driving they are virtually the same. Oh, and that was with DSC fully off. With DSC on, as soon as the Touring's back end would get light for the swerve-back maneuver, you could feel the brakes suck it back down on the road!

If BMW would stretch that E91 and squeeze in a 3rd row seat like Mercedes has on its wagon that would really be the ticket. If KIA can add 3rd row seating to its Rondo and Toyota can do the same for its RAV4, one would think BMW should be able to offer a 3rd row seat in something other than the large X5.

I have a feeling this would compromise the E91's handling characteristics too much for BMW's liking. Something I think is not as much of a consideration for Mercedes. I'm envisioning there being problems with the space required for the foot well and leg room versus the space required for the suspension system.

One way I compare BMWs to Mercedes is that BMWs are more about the sporty character of the car with some luxury thrown in and Mercs are more about the luxury character of the car with some sportiness thrown in. Therefore, it's easier for Merc to make performance compromises.

+1

BMW makes Sport Wagons and Sedans....Kia, Mercedes et al don't.

If you want more space, there's always the 5-series wagon (available with the turbo motor as well). Also, I think that car is only 200lbs. heavier than an e91.

BMW V3 will meet the requirements of more passenger seating in a wagon...eta 2011.

Touring

Xi Touring, I have always liked that car. Our kids are getting bigger, and our Chrysler Minivan and 1500 Quad Cab both get lousy gas mileage, may need to step up to something that is a bit more practical than a coupe, that I drive all year round. It would be nice if they offered some more sportier tire/rim packages for the xi touring.

mmmm...just not loving the design...l still think the older body styles looked so much sharper in sedan and wagon forms once lowered with nice wheels.
