Stop Recommendations? Munich to Paris

So we're leaving Munich and heading for Paris.

I don't want to do the drive in a single day. Any good recommendations that would get us about half-way?

Could be France or Germany no preference.

Saarbrucken looks like a possibility? But curious what the ED experts have to say.

Mein Auto: whatever the Mrs doesn't
Not an expert but I stayed in Strasbourg and really enjoyed it, especially the restaurants. It's about half way. I also considered Baden-Baden.

Strasbourg is nice, but it's just another big city, in my opinion. If you are just looking for a stopping over place, there's a nice quaint little village about 1/2 hour south of Strasbourg called Obernai. Lots of restaurants & shops and walking areas. You might want to check it out. It's part of the Route des vins d'Alsace.

I liked a smaller city of Metz on the way to Paris.

Stop over in Mulhouse and visit the old Schlumpf collection at the Cite' De L'Automobile. If you're a car guy it's an absolute must see.
It's also about half way to Paris.
