(NEW) See Through Tires!!

These tires are made in South Carolina,USA..
SEE THROUGH TIRE

Radical new tire design by Michelin.
The next generation of tires.
They had a pair at the Philadelphia car show.
These tires are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market very soon.

The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not work on these tires.

Just think of the impact on existing technology:
A. No more air valves...
B. No more air compressors at gas stations...
C. No more repair kits...
D. No more flats...

These are actual pictures taken in the South Carolina plant of Michelin.

I think they wouldn't hold up with the way some of you guys drive..... and they are UGLY too....but just wanted to share this find with all.

I think it would have the same qualities of a normal tire, but the biggest problem is the noise.

The tires are completely tunable to however the owner wants. If you want a stiff tire for handling then you can get a stiff tire. If you want a soft ride then you can get a soft ride. The characteristics for the tire are all in the design of the 'spokes'

I know that they tested these on the Radical SR3 a long time ago. In fact, I think in Project Gotham 2 or 3 for the Xbox you can actually see these tires on that car in the game...

My only issue...
They look like crap! At least give us a sidewall on the outside and put a super soft and flexible sidewall on them for appearance's sake...

Im sure they wouldnt be open on production models. Imagine the dirt build up. Or going through mud.

Maybe the open style would help when driving in deep water. They could even bring the blades out a little wider for extra paddling.

A word on our sponsors: Iridium sparks thanks to NGK. Wheels will shortly be dressed once again by Yokohama C-Drive. Road is lit by Eagle-Eye 6000K HID, supplemented by 7000K CCFL Angel eyes. HB/Fog have selected to go with Philips 4000K BlueVision. Engine parts choose to slip with Castrol's 20-50 GTX2 dinosaur slime, renewed every 10,000km.

If some of those struts broke, the wheel would develop a serious wobble and increase the risk of crashing compared to a normal flat tyre by approximately 62.6%. Who knows...

I'm sure it's quite strong, but it doesn't look that solid.

Old, if you read the article from a long time ago, the production units WILL have sidewalls. No one would go for those hideous things as is.

I think it's a great idea, can't wait to see it come to fruition.
