Sport Package on 2008 - suspension

What is included in the Sport Package for 2008 335i Coupe? Just the different seats and rims? I saw somebody posting that the sport package also includes the factory oil cooler, what about the suspension?? I am on my ED trip and the car feels soft at higher speeds..

I think the previous model SP included some suspension mods, is this not the case with the E92? Has anybody upgraded their suspension??

Just like most of the later model E46 coupes, all E92 with rear-wheel drive come with sport suspension and sport steering wheel as standard equipment. Sport package includes much-improved seats and bigger wheels with more kerb appeal. In models with the 3 litre turbo, it also gives you the secondary oil-cooler.

Your oil cooler fins are visible from your front passenger side wheel well. Just look.

The sport package on RWD cars also includes the higher 150-mph top speed limiter, which you can actually make use of on your ED.

I thought there is a break in period for the cars, that you are not suppose to exceed 100mph..BTW, the speed limiter is not at ****ph, it is higher, don't ask how I know, but i did not try it with my own car

European Delivery

For what it's worth, you can easily hit the 135mph speed limiter on European Delivery without revving the engine too close to redline. Evidence below. Note this was a 335xi, so the speed limiter was at 135, not 155.

I spoke to the guys at the delivery center about it and they said once I'd driven a hundred miles or so, hitting top speed should be no problem. However, they did advise me to vary my speed on the autobahns.

The speed limiter is published by BMW as 150 mph, and my avatar is me demonstrating that claim - so I'm inclined to believe it.

This is the best possible way to take your family vacation. With the 7% off MSRP...plus whatever else you can negotiate down to, you can come a long way towards paying for your vacation...and if you're frugal...perhaps most of it.

We used our AMEX bonus points to buy our airline tickets and our final purchase price of the car was a total of 11% off of what the sticker price would be on the dealer's lot.

Others may be able to make a much better deal with the dealership, but we are completely satisfied with the way things worked out for us.

My wife and I are having the car delivered to Spartanburg so we can enjoy a Performance Center Delivery. I want her to experience some of what I did at the Perfromance Driving School I attended a couple of years ago.

Start making your plans now...even if your next car is two or three years away. It's well worth it...and using the resources of Bimmerfest...not as intimidating as it could be without all of the help offered by the moderators and members.

You don't absolutely have to do ED (or even have a 6-zylinder) to enjoy the joys of German driving. It just has to be a BMW.

Adding the sport pkg increases the stock 135mph speed limiter to 155mph, no matter 328 or 335 series car.

That doesn't look like a track.

It does matter. 328xi and 335xi do not get a 155 limiter unless they are also upgraded with 18" wheels. 17" wheels are standard with the xi sport package.

I was not given any direction on this, so I assume it is no big deal anyway. I am not sure how hard you tried, but I know it does not stop at 150 mph, it does go over. And here's the sucky part, R8 still passed by

155 mph is for the higher-end bimmers, the ZSP-equipped 3-Series is 150 indicated.

I did about 3 separate runs, the last one I held the top speed for maybe 5-10 minutes (car had over 500 miles on it by then). The actual max is about 152-153 indicated mph, and it's a soft ECU-controlled limit. The car still accelerates very strongly at those speeds, and once you top 143 mph or so you can feel the ECU gradually pull back power until it holds you at about 150. With your foot remaining on the floor, the speed will creep up and down at few mph from 150 depending on hills and such, as the ECU subtly keeps you at the limit.

Edit: Based on the available power and rev range remaining, I would estimate an unrestricted 335i 6MT would have about a 170-175 mph redline-limited top speed.
