Mein Auto: bmw 3 series
still struggling with color choice

so i went to the bmw dealership this evening to look at the space grey vs titanium silver for an 09 3 series. i saw space grey in the 5 and thought it looked nice but i dont know how it will look on the 3. i also saw titanium silver and i thought it looked really bland at night, it didnt have any shine to it like my parents 2002 5 series that is titanium silver. im at the point where im gonna flip a coin and make my decision on color that way

Flip a coin, that's how I would decide the paint color of my new $45,000 bimmer.

Either that or ask a bunch of guys and gals who sit around on their sofas at night and give people they don't know thier honest opinion and in their mind, they are absolutely correct (wait, that's me)

Or you could set up a poll and let the majority of the respondents decide for you

Better yet, y....nevermind, I'm sorry. I should be more sympathetic to your stressful time, this is a major decision when making such a large purchase. At first I too wanted space grey which I saw in the evening hours, but I remembered how much work my previous dark (black) bmw was and I how told myself I would go lighter next time so I went with Titanium Silver and I have no regrets, hides dirt well so I don't have to wash everyday, only about 2 or 3 times a week now. (yes, I know that was my honest opinion but I'm not sitting on a sofa )

Good luck,
Krafty

I would go with space gray, I agree there are to many silver ones out there. They both look, good but if you ever need paint work or touch up work done silver is very hard to touch up, as the gray will hide a lot better. Just my 2 cents , I have owned both colors and liked them both.

I wanted space grey, but in Oz you cannot get the sport package in space grey. I really wanted the sport package so went with silver. I have absolutely no regrets!! It's not a common car here so I wasn't worried about others being silver too. It's real easy to keep clean and looks great with red/black interior.

I just bought a 2008 335 Sedan, so I wasn't ordering like you and had to make some compromises. I simply decided that i could live with either Sparkling Graphite or TiAG. More important was to find the car with the 'right stuff". While I really liked the graphite, I ended up with silver on black (alum trim) and couldn't be happier with the color combo. More importantly I got a manual trans, ZSP, ZPP, and NO idrive, which is what I wanted. I'll be adding 30% window tint all around this week and that will set the car off from the vast majority of untinted Nor Cal BMWs.

Good luck with your choice. Silver and Space grey are both great colors.

I'm assuming you're looking for a sedan vs. the coupe....

Your favorite interior color choice would help me make the decision. I'm big on silver and not so much on grays. I do like a dark gray with a light contrasty interior. A friend has Sparkling Graphite (no longer available on 09s) and lemon and it's beautiful. Getting that new Oyster Interior and Space Gray would be nice or the new Terra/Brown colors and a silver would look good. I think a black interior looks much better on silver than a darker gray.

Someone earlier said silver was harder to repaint than a darker gray and I'm not so sure that's true. I've had another car bumper repainted that was silver and it came out looking better than OEM.

Just my two cents which is all any opinion on this subject is worth.

Just picked up my Space Gray 335i coupe a few weeks ago and LOVE IT! It turns heads and has delivered more unsolicited compliments than I ever thought it would. It's such a dynamic color - in certain lighting conditions it's like a deep, lustrous charcoal metallic, while other times it appears brighter. In my (biased for sure!) opinion, it lets the light play along the car's lines more, really showing off how sculpted these cars really are!

One week after I bought my car, someone else at my company got a 550i in titanium silver. I guarantee you that my 335i in space gray / coral red gets more looks than his 550i in titanium / black!

Obviously I vote for Outer Space Gray, but it depends on your interior selection.

Sopranos,

I can only suggest you go down to the dealership and walk the lot. When you see the right color for you, you'll know...

I would go for Space Gray as well. Previously I had an E92 328i in Space Gray and it looked fantastic

Is not as bad to keep clean either. Specially when compared to my current car
