I like it. I think it is an improvement over the E60. You guys that see Hyundai or Honda in the design need to get your bifocals tweeked.

Ok, I just took a closer look at that article. These pics aren't even real and worse yet the article is dated June 3rd 2006! Here is a more recent one with "impressions" (Feb 2007) on how they think the F10 will look. So for now, we really have NO idea to base any judgement here. Granted, it probably will never be as sweet to us as our dear E39's but I just don't see BMW going down w/out making a damn good attempt at recapturing the 4DSC heritage market. Notice the tail-light differences too. But again, these are simply impressions and guesstimates.

It looks like a stretched '09 3 series... I hope that's not what it looks like. I'm hoping the front end keeps a somewhat powerful look. The lights and grill should be bigger than in that pic methinks.

I did a focus group two days ago comparing the E60 to the New F10 (which was present) and also the E class and Lexus GS. All I have to say is that the new 5series is a complete disappointment. It resembles a 3series in exterior size and interior size as well. The interior dash looks like it was built in a honda factory. Only good thing that I saw was the new dual exhaust.

the source for this info is questionable. please substantiate your claims.

It's only 2008. The new 5 is for MY2011, which means you'll see it introduced in 2010.

And if they are then this is a huge improvement over the sloppy e60. But if these photos are accurate they stole the lexus blueprints, changed a couple things and said "we gotta car" lol

there WERE focus groups at least 18 months prior to the release of the E60, and my father did just attend a focus group for the new 7 Series in March of last year. So I don't doubt that you could have attended one.

But are you saying the F10 is smaller than the E60?
How can that be if all the talk is about an increase in wheelbase, width, etc?

But didn't you also say in another post you thought the MB S class was the best looking sedan on the market? Since I certainly do not agree with your opinion concerning that, perhaps the same will hold true with the F10. With BMW consistently increasing the size of new models, I highly doubt they would significantly reduce the size of the new 5-series. What was the name of the marketing company running the focus group?

hah well i for one am anxiously waiting for the F10 as i almost picked up an e60 535i msport lsi .

I remember when e60s were coming out i did not like e60 at all.. now after being with the e39 for so many years i just salivate at the 550s or m5s everytime i see them...

This time i think anyone who is about to pick up a 5er should wait for the f10.

Oddly enough my dealer told me they will be in soon and i said well i will be back then.

From the pics i will agree it looks too japenese... but isnt this what vw did too... their jettas look like corollas and now the fake 5er looks like a lexus gs?!?!.

I don't like the other images either but knowing the history of my likeness of cars it will probably grow on me... i still cant wait to see some "real" pics of the car.

It looks like a cross between a MB and a BMW. Looks terrible. I'll never buy one if they look like this.

unfortunately i dont really have anything to substantiate my claims since they metal detect you before seeing the vehicles which prevents anyone from carrying any cameras or recording devices. The focus group company is adept focus group in beverly hills. Everyone is entitled to their thoughts and opinions but the interior size of the car was substantially smaller than that of my current E60.

That "impression" looks like they took a 3 coupe added a set of doors, some different headlights and M5 wheels. I'm hoping for something a little better than that.

Do we know when the F10 is projected to appear? It's got to be at least a 2011 model year or later right? That article in the 2nd post says 09 but, we know that's obviously not the case.

Are you perhaps referring to lack of space only in the front?
Every media article has been stating that there will be an increase
in space in the rear of the car.

It's hot from the back. The front looks too wimpy... That is, however, the same thing I said before I saw more extensive photos of the new 7. If the 5 looks like a smaller 09 7 Series I'd be quite satisfied. It's really growing on me!

If the new F10 comes with Hyundai or Kia tail lights, does that make it (F10) a world class car??? LOL!

So wrong! I have both and love both of them for different reasons. It's not an affordability thing.

Ditto x2, 01' through 03' E39s do have one of the most artistic, classy designs I've seen on any sedan to date, esp the the M5 & 03' 540iMspt, the only cars I would trade mine for. These cars remind me of a DaVinci or Michael Angelo painting, simply exquiste in art & taste. They retain that original BMW design w/regards to headlamps etc & I believe when aged, 20yrs or more will still look great unlike the newer model bimmers.
