Moonroof Issue...

I posted this at fanatics and someone suggested some people over here might be able to help.

No it's not the 'cover got stuck' issue.

This is one dealing with the control of it.

All the one touch settings are set for the moonroof's button, open/close/raise, etc.

Now the issue arises when I go to close the moonroof from the fully opened position.

I press the button forward until it clicks and the roof starts moving into the close position, gets 3/4 of the way, stops and goes to half way. If i push the button again, it goes to 3/4 and back to half, if I hit it again it goes all the way closed.

Same thing happens if i try and close it from the outside with the key, sometimes it will take the three times for it to close all the way.

WTH is going on here?!

Your roof controller may have forgotten its configuration memory. Try this procedure and if that doesn't work, take the car to your dealer.

Something similar like this happened to me the other day x2, but it hasn't happened since. It was really kind of strange. Terry, thanks for the link.

Same thing happen on my 99 323i. THe dealer put in a new controler mechanism.

i'm going to try that procedure again tonight and try cleaning the rails some and see what happens.

my next question would be if there is a TSB on this, and if so, how could I find the number. I just broke the 50k barrier on my car so the manuf. warranty is out and im into CPO territory. So if there is a tsb that would get this replaced for free, that would be nice.

Beats me - I just found this when I was installing the M steering wheel and followed the chain of "stuff you have to do first" - it was all the way down in the "after you reconnect the battery" list.
