Car Doesn't Start.... Sometimes

For some reason, a couple of days ago, my car would not start sometimes. I would drive for about an hour, go to the store, and then come back and the car would have difficulty starting, but the everything else was on (A/C, radio, OBC). I did notice that I didn't hear the engine 'clicking' or attempting to start when it didn't start. After about 5 - 6 attempts of turning the ignition, the car finally started. Again, this happened to me the next day, except it took even longer to start (and I pushed down the gas). I changed the battery (which had been leaking acid) and the same problem did not occur at first, but looks to be happening again. Now, whenever I turn the ignition, there is a delay before the engine starts, if it does at all.

Does anybody have any idea what is wrong before I take it to the dealership?

The make is an 01, 325i with 97k miles.

Same thing happening to me (but I do have the "clicking"). Could it be the weather? In any case, I'm gong to change the fuel filter this weekend. Maybe that will help.

Check the battery terminal cables like they said..

try turning it Upside down and see if that gets a better connection * i had to do this before *

just casue everything was on, doesnt mean ur battery has enough Power to start the Motor.. try turning everything off and seeing if the car turns on easier.. if it is, means ur battery is dying but since u got a new one.. check ur alternator.. its probably not charging the battery..

TEst: jump ur car with someone elses.. and see if it just turns on perfectly.. if it does.. charge ur battery for about 10-15 mins with theres.. Let it run for a BIT.. if it turns off/dies, its ur alternator.. But u can still see and fill the battery UP with water.. and see if that helps it charge.. if not.. NEW alternator Brother!

Sounds like the battery or the battery terminals. Check that first. You might want to buy a jumper battery pack that can discern between a bad battery and a bad alternator(in this case is seems to be the former). I keep one in my trunk.
