Headlight condensation...

I've been having an issue with a LOT of condensation in both of my front turn signals. When I wash the car or it rains, the condensation will stick around for days. I'm assuming that the seals are bad or some such? Easy fix?

I'm not having any issues, so I hate to take the car in for just this, but it's annoying.

Warranty will replace it. Take some pics and take it to the dealer.

I get that problem too,but it goes away quick.

lasted a few days, and went away

now its gone,

came back for an hour or so after car wash, but is mostly gone

The headlight condensation is a known problem.

Sorry to raise such an old thread - I'm having condensation issues on one light. I've undone and removed the rear cover and the main bulb. Is there anything else I can do? - I'm out of warranty.

Mines does the same also such an eye sore I hate especially during the day when the day time lights are running

I have the same problem in my passenger side headlight and turn signal covers....all fogged and with water droplets.....used to go away after a day or 2 now its hanging around for over a week with no end in sight....someone mentioned on another thread to remove the back cover for a night or 2 and drive around ......I might try that but I would really like to know whats causing the problem in the first place !!

I was having the same issue for a week, there a few threads on here that deal with the same issue. So I thought I'd have to reseal the headlight housing or even buy a new headlight housing back plate but it turns out that if you remove the back on the headlight housing and drive around (this will clear the condensation out) and put the back plate back on you shouldn't have this issue again.

I basically used this approach and have been issue free since October. If it continues try replacing the back plate cover on the headlight unit first before removing the headlight and resealing with caulking.

I had the same issue on my 645 - it was the rubber seal under the turn signal (between it and the headlight casing). There is a thread on here about someone DIYing it with some silicone sealant. Do a search.

Is it easy to get to the turn light seal ? I would look at my car right now but its pouring rain outside lol.

I had the cover off and left overnight - not warm in UK - still misted up - left cover off and then turned lights including headlamps on - left them on too long and flattened battery! DOH.

Charged battery - left cover off lamp - only put wheel arch cover back on - had a spirited drive so engine bay warmed up.

%80 of water gone now. Cover back on.

The head lamps are sealed and the only entrance into it is the bulb compartment cover. I was told that the rubber seal on the covers will go bad ofter awhile and this break in the seal will cause the condensation to build up. The rubber looses it's elasticity and form due to the high temp it's exposed to such as the HID builds and engine heat. Like with any rubber product, extreme hot and cold will cause it to break down. Try changing the rubber seal and see if that solve your problem. I've seen a post where small insects some how got into the housing as well so you know the rubber seal is no longer doing it's job.

I had the same problem with heavy condensation after going through car wash... It burnt out the bulb and I had to replace the control unit.... $1,200.00. Dealers says they can't find the source of water entering... After a week the bulb went out again, now the dealer wants another $2,500.00 for a complete headlight assembly...
Is there a better ( cheaper solution)

Have some slight evidence of that in mine. Nothing that I can see after the car wash or whatever, but can see residual signs of it.

I've seen that in most of the cars I've owned though. Ford is notorious with that, but luckily, under warranty they replace anything with no questions asked. The worst is when the plastic headlight covers actually start to cloud over and they look like crap.

I did the 1mm drain mod, worked a treat for me, no condensation since also did the mod on the reverse/ fog lights, they kept filling up and blowing the bulb!
