Projector VS Reflector Headlights?

Hey guys, I was just wondering what the difference is between projector head lights and Reflector headlights? What are the pros and cons of each?

Projector... look cooler?

Functionally not a huge difference.

Yes and no, if you are running a xenon setup, a projector setup is a must. The reflectors will cause glare issues and do not have a straight cut off like the projector housings. Reflectors are fine for a halogen setup but projectors are optimal if you are looking to eliminate all glare issues and provide optimal light dispersion.

Functionally there's a HUGE difference! The stock reflectors in my E46 were awful. They had a lousy light pattern and poor long-distance visibility with low-beams; I'd switch to high-beams at every possibly opportunity. The projectors + xenons I have now are such a huge improvement that I rarely bother with high beams. The projectors + halogens in my E30 were much better than the stock E46 reflectors...

Although your statements are true, I disagree that the difference is HUGE. My Halogen's project plenty of light and a great pattern. I actually prefer them to my bro-in-law's Projectors. Projectors look awesome, but from the driver's seat, properly aimed/functioning halogen headlights are just fine.

When you turn the car on they "auto-level." I've yet to see any purpose for this, but it makes me feel like I'm 12 again preparing for takeoff. Enough of a reason I'd say.

This reminds me of the new Jaguar XF. What purpose is there to the moving interior? Absolutely none. Do I still want to play with it? Definitely. What I'm talking about is about 2 minutes in.

If you're using non-OEM halogen upgrade bulbs (like Hoen, Sylvania, etc.) make sure you match them to the housing they were developed for - reflector or projector.

Autoleveling on my Ci's bi-xenon errs on the side of conservative light dispersion pattern. I'd set them a few degrees up and it would illuminate the road much better without blinding others cars. What pisses me off are those damn unruly adolescents and adolescent-minded adults that should know better with their $0.99 HID kits run blindingly out their stock reflectors.
