Should I keep playing Planetside?

It's really boring lately... I log on, kill a few people, log off. The fact that there isn't instantaneous death I think, makes it very less 'FPS-like' and I often find myself going back to America's Army for my FPS fix instead of PS.

I think that I'm gonna cancel or sell my account, and probably buy Star Wars Galaxies instead and see how that is.

Any comments guys? I am yet undecided.

I'm getting a bit burned on it myself..

The problem with Planetside is there is no mission to be accomplished. You DON'T win. Today you capture one continent, the next day it is gone.

The last two days, I have played it extensively. When you are in the middle of the battle, it is fun. But conquering one facility after the other may get boring.

If SONY doesn't change the scenario, it will end like CS

i hadn't played in a while and logged on last night. Honestly, I was quickly bored. Its cool for a while, but I am not nearly sucked in like I was for Quake or CounterStrike. Part of it may be that I have just played too many FPS games to really enjoy them any more, but I think part of it is the way PS is set up.

I guess then, that I'm not the only one..

Edit: subscription canceled. At least I got it done before I actually had to pay for one month.

I have problems with paying for a game, paying for internet connection, and then PAYING to play.

To some people it's worth it, for me it's not. I'll stick to Wolfstein and Enemy Territory. Having a goal to achieve and time limit is nice.

My subscription has been canceled. Runs out July 20th, the same day my wife starts her leave.

No way will I pay for a game that is not even partially balanced and developed at release. This game has such awesome potential too.

In about 6 months, this game will probably be one of the best out there but they screwed up by jumping the gun.


Hey Doug, Ron, Matt and all my other buddies who we game with, I will be available any day to play some Generals or Warcraft III if you guys want to.

I am still burnt out on Ghost Recon, beating the three packs was enough to quench my thirst for that game.

I won't be buying SWG most likely but if it appears as if a bunch of you guys are, I guess I could.

We need to find a new game if you ask me, this one, has no obtainable goals, and nothing to show for the time spent leveling.

Let me know when all of you find a new game; I would LOVE to start at ground zero.

However, no role-playing games for me; has to be action-filled.

How do you cancel your subscription? I need to do that.

We do need a new game, sadly there's nothing out there.

IS WCIII cool? I'll go get it..Generals may be better over broadband but the game is still weak IMHO.

Too bad you are burned on GR Dred, we never really did any of the IT missions

I am strongly thinking about cancelling my subscription.

It's fun when you are in the middle of action, but action is hard to find. Once you actually find action, it might take 15 minutes to get to the action (walk?). It can be really fun when you are attacking a base, but once you get it you need to stick around for 15 minutes. C'mon.

I still have a few days left before I have to pay. I will probably try the NC jackhammer to see what it's all about, then get a pounder MAX and run up 1000 grief points before cancelling.

SWG looks very interesting though...

Doug, too bad Quake 2 is so old, a quake 2 CTF clan would be perfect for us.


Capture the flag is awesome.

Oh btw, WCIII is cool but it is too hard for just me and matt. We have often needed a third party.

Generals is very fun, and free but. So, we have games to last us untill a new one.

Damn...Well, I guess I will have to find another game to get hooked on......Who's going to tell Alex?


On Second thought, I will stay for the duration of my 3 month subscription.....Just to try out other crap and pass the time....

Ron you are a video game master, crap, I used to think I was good till I met you.. So I got to make sure I am always on the same team you are.

We have not lately, Matt has been real busy, and I have been on planet side.

If you like I will install whichever and we can play whenever.

We really need 3 players for either to have much fun.

No worries, if we are bored, we are bored. Period We are mega-multi-ultra-super-trooper-jumping-slackers, we find another game

With The Move, I haven't had time to play any thing for pass few weeks. Still a BR2 in Planetside! Oh well, guess no one is playing it anymore.

I'm not quiting until I hit BR20....But, that will be in the next couple of days...

I'm going back to America's Army and Starcraft.

Two games that really are just too fun not to play
