What type of MP3 disc works with my X3?

Meaning, when I copied a MP3 data disc it didn't work. Which program should I use to burn my MP3's to disc to play in my '07 x3?

You can't just copy files; it has to be specifically created/burned as an MP3 disk to be correctly recognized. You might have to dig down into the advanced settings for the burn menu.

I've successfully burned disks using iTunes.

I burned a data CD with WMP and works fine.

That's what I figured. It would have to be something specific.
thanks,

I just dragged MP3 files to a CD and they played fine..some play back devices may be fussy to certain CD blanks but I never had a problem with my X3. Try a different brand blank.

Used iTunes, Jukebox and some others without any problem. Of course I listen to Sirius 95% of the time so its not a real big problem.

Cheers

It seems like all burning programs will operate slightly different but when I first tried to create an Audio CD out of MP3 files in iTunes it didn't work. Presumably because of the different format. I then chose MP3 and it worked fine. See attachment. Since you say you "copied" it, you might want to make sure you "Finalized" the copied disk. Non-finalized disks will only play back on computers.

Is there a way to burn the CD and get the song names to display? I have a Mac, and just dragged the MP3's to a CD and burned. Works fine, but no track names.

I haven't heard of a way to display the text. It would be nice though.

Text display only works with the latest version of the 6-disc CD changer and for '06+ vehicles (IIRC). There was a thread on this a ways back...

I thought it was only possible if you had the Nav option?

Yeah, my '07 with Nav displays the text, but the option was kinda buried in a menu, no idea how to do it on the non-nav radios.

The disk I had laying around with MP3s on it worked perfect. I've never even heard of a 'burn as MP3 disk' option, my guess is the OP's disk didn't work because it wasn't closed completely. Software tends to default to allowing data to be added to a disk now, for maximum compatibility close it instead, and be sure not to use a CD-RW disk. I'd also use 'disk at once' mode for max compatibility. Some software may call closing the disk 'finalizing' as stated above. You have to use some kind of burning software like Nero or Roxio because I think the default Windows XP (and Vista) CD writing always leaves the disk open.

I burn mine with Windows Media Player and works just fine.
