Angry 2003 745Li Wont Start

Need help...2003 745Li wont start...need some ideas to check before paying dealer to rape me. Car is out of warranty and has 107K on the clock. Wife informed me last night that it took 5 min to start the car and on the way home from her class she got "some transmission warning note" on idrive. Dealer says that tranny faults wont prevent a start.

Today, she went to start car and nothing. Well it cranks but no fire. I drove car all day yesterday with no issue. Only thing I can think of is I filled the car up before getting home. The check engine light has been on a week and no problems.

I plan on resetting everything via battery disconnect when i get home, looking for any other ideas or suggestions. Dont want to get raped by the dealer. Thinking it might be bad batch of gas, how can i check fuel pump is working?

All inputs and ideas greatly appreciated.

I dont know if a jump start will solve your issue but you might wanna try cuz weak batteries will cuz all kinds if issues , also since the car has 107k on it and check engine light is on so that means time to get 02 sensors changed and 100k tuneup it will cost you $$$ but try to find a reputable shop that will not rape you like the dealer will, good luck

A week with a check engine light on isnt a good idea with these cars my friend, like driving a regular car with check oil light and then finally it stops working..... take it into someone asap

I agree but in CC, TX dealer quality is pathetic, the dealer is backlogged and cant find a shop I would trust with my big wheel

Got her started...disconnected battery per rec's here incl clearing all codes. Next, reset trans after batt reconnected. Tried to start, but no go, same thing...BUT after realizing the AUTO P feature was stuck "engaged" on on, near as i can tell, and as I was cranking the engine again, i pushed the idrive control to deselect AUTO P, and shazam, started right up. No issues now. The check engine light conincides with a fill up and the cap not put on for a while of driving...dont ask me how, its the wifes car. Research hear states that the light can come on for this..and should clear in a few days. If not, will have to take in unless someone knows how to read the OBD at home.
