Question on Service Indicator

Hi i just wanted to know is there anything special I need to when I change my oil or will the service indicator change to green after i change my oil. Bare with me if it sounds stupid I just want to Know if I would have to take it to a gas station or dealership to change the oil service. If you all could respond before tomoro 12-13-08 that would be great!

You need to reset it buddy

You either need to take it to a specialist
Buy a reset tool
Reset it yourself - (you an use a paperclip)

You have to reset it, but definitely don't take it to a gas station, Jiffy Lube, etc. That's just asking for your car to get screwed. Lol.
The dealer, and most oil change places, will reset the lights when they do the change, if you're brave enough to let them change your oil (I'm not). The dealer will reset the lights for a fee if you do your own change and bring it in.

Easiest way is that last link, though. Takes just a couple minutes, and you can use a paperclip or a small length of wire. Just look at the diagrams. I don't know why he's blabbering about alligator clips and load resistors. You really don't need any of that, so ignore it.

Ok...this is getting ridiculous. Someone come buy a few of these things.

I use a paper clip, as described.

The time to reset varies depending on where you read it. I find I get oil reset in 10 > < 15 seconds, not 7 seconds.
If you don't want to accidentally reset your Inspection indicator, as well as the oil, I'd suggest you try in increments until it's right.

Goto the DIY section of this site and there is a simple and very quick reference to this issue with pics. It will take you longer to read the DIY then actaully reset the light.
