Z4 Strut tower brace

I want to put a strut tower brace on my '05. But I don't want to pay the $455 that my dealer wants. Does anyone know of an after market company that sells strut tower braces for Z4s?

You should be able to find the BMW brace for much less than what your dealer quoted. Do a little googling.

Got this setup for about $200...it is an ALUTEC brace bar. Might still be available. Be careful some do not clear the hood or they lay on the engine cover.

A friend of mine bought the Strong Strut for his Z4 M Coupe. $385 plus $25 shipping.

Does strut brace really help improve handling?

I suggest that you select a brace that does not 'hinge' at the connection points. You want a 'rigid' design similar to that of the strong strut, etc.

You might also want to visit this site for more info (although they don't have a Z4 compatible piece):

When and if you go and put a strut bar on, start off with the car on on an uneven sloped surface. See how easy it is to line up a rigid design strutbar. Move your car to flat ground then see how it lines up.

Point is, these cars flex a good amount.

Unlike my E46, I detected absolutely no difference in handling characteristics after installing the OEM strut brace on my Z4MC. It was pretty, though.

Ya, I heard the e46 Strut Bars work on the Z4's. The e46's are cheaper

That looks like the one I got on EBAY from a place in Calif. It laid on the engine cover and did not clear the hood. Took 2 weeks to convince the illiterate bunch of clowns what was wrong finally they agreed to take it back--I lost shipping both ways. The Altech I finally got fit perfect. Buyer beware..

Couldn't agree with you more. It's nice underhood eye candy.

Does BMW PP (performance parts) --- the OEM aftermarket parts branch --- make a strut for the Z4 now? I know they have some slick ones for the 1 and 3 series.. should be a similar strut?
