I have no idea what MECA or termlab even means but in my opinion a good system is the sound balance. Where I can hear the base AND the lyrics and other instruments being used. Not just the base....
Since it's raining out here I'll go take a few pics of my system for you. I'd take a video but I don't want to make the neighbors made. Brb.

Stage 2. Love it!. Although the flywheel is pretty loud but sounds cool

Glad I am not the only one who thinks flywheel is loud

Hell yeah dude it bites like a MOFO!. I love the feel of it. I'd honestly rate this clutch very high from others I've driven. Beside the loud flywheel of course lol. But regardless I think the loud flywheel sounds cool and gives it more character

Hi guys, new to the forums, and relatively new to Bimmers....

Here's my 2001 325i sport, relatively stock, taken right after I got her last September.



(yes, one half of the grill was black, the other half chrome, I've fixed that since!

This was my first BMW, and she had 123K on the clock when I bought her and drove her back from Miami. I have to tell you, I'm now a fan. For a car with that kind of age and mileage, this 325i still rides better and handles better than just about any car I've owned.. and I've had a few.

I'd always been a Honda/Acura guy when it came to my daily drivers and race track toys, with a Corvette habit on the side. I raced Honda/Acuras comptitively with SCCA and NASA, and won two championships in them, and have had 6 Hondas and 2 Acuras, and 3 Corvettes.... and I can tell you that now that we've had the BMW KoolAid, I don't see any more Hondas or Acuras in the garage.

Since then we've replaced my wife's Lexus RX330 with Hanz, a blk/blk '03 X5 4.6is.... and man does she love that X5!

My new bimmer! I've had it for a little over a week now. I'm a first time owner so any tips on maintenance and mods are appreciated!

Ducksrunner^^^ nice looking ride!! Not much you could do with that from an exterioir mod point of view. Looks like the previous owner was all over that stuff.

Read the WIKI at the top of the page and you will find out all you need to know about maintenance and DIY repairs.

If the mileage is north of 80k miles, and it hasn't been done, you need to start thinking about a cooling system refresh, north of 100K and the control arm bushings are likely shot maybe the ball joints as well.

Some other random items..
Regular tranny and diff oil changes are a must for longevity. Power steering reservoir drain and refresh. Brake/clutch fluid replacement every 2 years at least. Coolant every 2 years. Fuel filter at 100k.

#1 thing to remember...there is no such thing as "lifetime" with these or any cars. BMW's and their fluids/parts wear out as with all cars.

Thanks for the tips! Looks like I've got some work to do. it has 114000 miles on it. I already know it needs a rear control arm and possible rear differential bushings. But I had no idea about the tranny flushes and such

New to the forum! Had this e46 323i for ~6mnth as a daily driver. Just passed 280K Km, gets near 30mpg, drives like new. Love it!

If you can get the maintenance records, it will be a big help. It looks well looked after so maybe the previous owner did most of the preventative stuff.

At that mileage, there are a number of things that usually need attention some of which I have outlined above.

Like I said, read the WIKI and you will get a good idea for the most common stuff.

These cars like to be "mothered" but the good news is, they are designed to be relatively easy to work on and most things are covered in this forum and can be DIY. Best parts and places to buy can also be found here so you did goo dcoming to Bimmerfest.
