how to program a new key for 2002 325i?

Just got new key @ dealer. was told info to initiate key was contained in owner's manual. cant find manual. HELP

Did they synch the key`s functions to your car ? Since new cars are delivered with two master keys, it`s usually a good idea to have the main driver`s key synched to the "Number One" position on the memory setting.

Isn't the key numbering accomplished by the order you initialize them into the computer?

Usually around US$180-$210.

THREADJACK ALERT: Do ebay keys work? I have the old style fat key with a replaceable battery, and would like to upgrade but I think the newer ones are charged by the car and I doubt mine will work? anyone ever upgrade a key?

Can't directly upgrade
1) eBay keys won't work unless you take the electronics (transponder) out of your key and put it in the new key
and
2) Your car doesn't have the inductance charging loop necessary to keep the diamond key's battery charged.

All that said, there is a guy on fanatics that took his old key and transplanted all of it, including the watch battery, into a new diamond shaped key. You do that and it'll work... Search over there.
