Will 19'' wheels fit my e36?

Hello, I recently purchased my first e36. Wooo hoooo. Anyways, I am looking to upgrade the look of the ouside, with, above all things, rims. I found some 19'' rims on craigslist for $450. I was wondering if 19's rub against the sidewalls of my car. If someone has this answer please let me know.

P.S. the wheels are front-19x8.5 and rear-19x9.5 with a 20 mm offset.

People do run 19's on the E36 but 17" or a max 18" are better

Ya, that is what I was thinking. But for $450, I can get rims and tires. Plus the tires only have 6,000 miles on them.

Stick with 17". 18's are do-able but unnecessary. I have 17" wheels w/ a moderate drop and no wheelgap. See sigpic.

If you run 19" find some with a 35mm offset or they won't fit. If your trying to put OEM E46 19" only the fronts will fit not the rears. The bad thing about running 19"s on a E36 is that the tire you can fit are the size of rubber bands 215/35/19". Stick with 17" or 18" rims. Allso your car will be slow as hell becuase most 19" weigh 27 pounds and up. Your better off checking out the TIRE RACK and using the wheel specific wheel guide. Find a wheel under 25 pounds you will be more happy

Thanks everyone for your input, and i think I'm going to take your advice. Hopefully by February I'll have some new rims.

Since you've aleady had all the positive input you are going to get, I am here to tell you that 19" rims won't fit comfortably, no, however you'll get away with 21", because at that size, the wheel arches will have to be removed and you'll get some added clearance. Good luck.

Yes they fit and with the correct offset it does not rubs (sorry, don't renember the word for it) the fender even with the 235/35 I've used.

There are some photos.

However I'm now using TSW 18" with 225/40 and they are much better for confort, but I'm regreting that I did'nt used 235 again. They would fit ok.

Fotos with the 19":

Photo with my actual 18"

^ that or roll the hell out of your fenders and pound those arches out

On a serious note: You can put 19"s in. You'll need to seriously roll the fenders and arches though. I know that 2 friends of mine had 19"s on their cars and they fit comfortably. One of them had somehow fit 275/35/19 tires in the rear, maybe they were 275/30/19 I don't remember and he has sold the car already. but it is doable. And if you don't have access to a shop that'll roll fenders for you, heat Gun + hammer = Rolled fenders

a 20mm offset... I don't think it's going to fit. 9.5 is iffy anyways, but the offset should be 35mm-40mm.

Well how about I come on in and say sorry haters but I LOVE MY 19's!!!
check out this pic but I will be adding a new thread shortly with multiple pics along with the in depth of my cars make over! These wheels are 19" staggered 8.5 and 9.5. I am not sure the tire size. There was rubbing on the left rear tire and so we had to work it out but in under 10 min and with minor effort they are on. Also I have noticed a loss of MPG.

Wheel size, type etc. are personal choices. I don't think anybody was "hating", just offering opinions.

BTW, love the design of your wheels, if not the size.

That's the funniset thing ever. You talk about how you love them, then you go on to talk about how they rubbed and had to work it out. ahaha

Just cuz you have a disagreement with your girl doesn't mean you don't love her lol...The rubbing on that ONE side was due to the crapy job the body shop did at repairing the left rear fender....they had it set to far in so once it was done correctly the prob was gone.

and I didn't mean "Hating" I just used it as an expression. I love everyone on this site and all of their opinions so sorry if it came across wrong.

And Thank you BMR LVR for the props on the wheel design.

No Problem. Could you give the info on your wheels? Would love to see if they are available in 17"

Hey E36youngster, could you tell me what kind of wheels those are? They look awesome! What offset and width are those and how much did you lower your car? Thanks in advance!

BMR LVR (and also Mona may like this) My wheels are MRR design. Here is a link for the page.
http://mrrwheels.com/gt1.html

The guy I got them through has an identical look but a diff company I can ask him for those details. Also if you want them I can quote you a price that will be less than what they have there.
