Let me say this, I have replaced probably 30 expansion tanks in 5 years and I can conclude fairly reliably that any car with an original expansion tank or one that has 60k + miles on it will almost ALWAYS break the tstat when the tank pops loose. Newer ones with less miles give you a better shot at not breaking them.

Hes on his 2nd expansion tank and 2nd tstat w/ 107k miles. Changed Tstat around 80k miles and no idea who changed his expansion tank last.

You might get lucky then. It is the tanks that have 60-100k miles on them and have never been changed that almost always bust the trans tstat when removing. Those suckers are really on there after that much time.

Yeah I had to use a jack to take mine off two times lol.
