Any body stretch tires on a 17x8" rim?

Just got a set of style 42's and am looking to stretch the tires a fair amount for the lip sits about 3 cm or more out of the fender. I would fender roll but i like the stretch look (in moderation) Anybody do this with their e36? I'm wondering what size would fit stretched on the 17x8 in wheel. I dont want to get too high a profile that the tread itself will rub the fender when hitting a bump

Welcome to the Fest.

No, we try to avoid doing stupid sh!t like stretching tires to our cars.

Words can't begin to describe how much I hate stretched tires. If you want mad-tyte JDM stretched tires, buy a Hachi-Roku or 240 or some other crap like that.

Oh yeah, welcome to the Fest.

Ok, You have to have atleast 17 x 9 wheel to be able to mount so called streched tyre.

Wrapping a 17 x 8 wheel in a stretched tyre won't add to the "wide-look".

Unless..................... You are planning to use like 10mm spacers.

Is your e36 Lowered? Will need Fender roll if you want to go that way.

^That doesn't actually make sense. You can mount stretched tires to any size, the width just has to be sufficiently small and you have to have enough aspect ratio to pull it off.

But like I said, that is not for our cars. That's for JDM Doriftooooooooooo poseurs.

What's up Bob. Where ya @ in SoCal?

I'm looking forward to continually learning, too. That's what we're all here for.

(Well, I stick around cuz it's fun to be a douche and torment people, but hey, YMMV.......)

wow that thread goes on for ever is there any benefit of stretching a tire or is it just for cosmetic purposes or is it that they couldn't afford the wider tire for the wide rim so they use a narrow tire?
